Basically, have you ever saved, only to discover that you rendered the game impossible to beat? I did once. In Thousand Year Door, those stupid punies kept getting stuck behind bushes. By the time I saved, about twenty of them were stuck behind a bush halfway through the escape route. With thirty seconds left! I had to start the whole game over again.

Yeah, I remember saving Tomb Raider 2 whilst Lara was free falling halfway down a cliff. For some stupid reason Dont know why I did that, had to restart the whole level, pain in the ass

Not as far as I can remember... however - and this may be off-topic - quite recently I've accidentally "erased" a Save File when I thought the New Game screen was in fact the Load Game screen in Sphinx for the gamecube (it didn't say anywhere that it was a New Game, nor asked for confirmation that it was deleting it...).
When you suddenly see the first cutscene rather than the ~15 hours you're supposed to be in the game, it sucks.

I'll try to keep the Thousand Year Door thing in mind (I still need to play that title! I've got it though)

Well, I can't remember having saved in a place that made me restart the entire game, though I have had to restart levels if I get quick save happy and quick save as I'm being killed.

I did however play through a large portion of Gun when I had it for the PC, then quit and came back to it the next day only to find out the game wasn't auto-saving and that I had to start again from just after the tutorial. I never ended up playing it again.

Final Fantasy 2 (japanese)
I was in this enemy ship and monsters were popping up everywhere. i didnt want to get a game over and have to start from my last save point, so i saved...with only 3 guys alive all with 1/4 of their health left, no potions or white magic to help me.

I remember when I was little I once accidentally saved, when I had meant to load the file, on the title screen of Toy Story 2 for the PSX, which meant I had to start over.

i was playing Sphinx on my gamecube which i was actually quite enjoying, and saved right in front of a door. well, it was one of those doors where it closes behind you, and when i died in the next room and shut the game off, it glitched. i realized when next i turned it on, i was in front of the door, where i saved, but the door was still closed somehow, with no way for me to open it. i haven't played it since.

I can only remember an incident playing Zelda 2 where I was playing dungeons out of order and somehow I used a key from another dungeon and ended up not being able to replace the key so the first dungeon was a complete write off.

Other ones have been more minor like Eternal Darkness saving when my health was too low that I couldn't fight past some enemies no matter how hard I tried.

There were a lot of save glitches in that game, my dad restarted it twice because of it. He didn't really play i much after.
