Wow PhoenixSage! That is one awesome review! Well done my friend!

@MetalMario: Glad to help you out! As for picking up a copy, experience tells me it won't be too hard. I have a Gamestop that recently opened up around my house (around a month ago) and it already has a copy of both. I think they're priced at $10 bucks a pop. As for Golden Sun DS, I'm guessing will come out sometime early-to-mid 2010.

@WolfRamHeart: Thank you very much! I really hoped I got my point across, and from what people have said, I think I did a good job of that.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

J_Bitties

MetalMario, not sure where you live but my friend just picked up the first one for $10 at a local gaming store (not nationwide chain). I'm guessing you'll be able to find it for a similar price. BTW, it is essential to play the first since the second is just an extension of the first...think Kill Bill movies...there isn't really a 1 or 2...just a 2 cart. game.

@PhoenixSage & J Bitties: Then I'll have to look then. For $10 I don't see why I shouldn't get it and try it out. Hopefully one of my two GameStops and one EB has a copy.

Objection

Golden Sun 1 and 2 are both great games, though I never thought they had much replay value. The graphics are beautiful and the combat has some refreshing changes.

I still don't see what there is to like about this game, but I guess it's the whole "tried-and-true formulat that keeps me away. Oh well, I guess if people loved games like Lunar, Final Fantasy 4/6, and Chrono Trigger, there's bound to be fans for this.

I think it's largely nostalgia nowadays, and wide-eyed wonder at something new when they played it as their first RPG back in the days. Really, praise for it's "deep and customizable system" (really, now? Final Fantasy 1's party creator and magic selection system was deeper. Seriously) that has one "best" combination per character stat-wise, allows you to replace the spells you never use with some other spells you never use, since everything dies in 2 hits anyway. The djinni system of unleashing attacks/effects and getting a summon charge in exchange for a limited stat drop is interesting in theory, but so poorly planned that you can almost always just set everything to Standby before a boss battle and Summon your strongest monsters, and the boss will die before you run out of charges. Many modern RPGs fall in the same trap, creating complex gameplay structures that no one end up caring about because the game is so easy you can just hammer the button a lot to win, but Golden Sun just goes above and beyond, while having a ridiculously boring "story" that never shuts up, and some endless, dull dungeons filled with tedious block puzzles that take longer to do than they should on top of that. I think I hate the series.

I remember setting the game down for a year because it didn't interest me at first. Then I played it again and now I can't wait for the DS game. Kinda makes me dissapointed that I have a DSi instead of a Lite.

Vantes

Well that guy sure is adamant about not liking the series... lol. Kidding. I'm far from maturing into what I'd consider a respectable RPG player... there's still SO much I haven't played. With that in mind, I loved the first Golden Sun and agree wholeheartedly with PheonixSage.

I'm so glad that they're continuing the series, gonna have to play the second one real soon.

Noire

I hardly know ya, Vantes, but I already like you! And I am also very pleased Camelot is making a new one. It's been far too long. I hope you get the second soon! It's also very good, and it has more Jenna in it, so that's a plus!

You must really like Jenna, PhoenixSage! I always liked Ivan but never understood why people complain about him dying constantly. Mine rarely died.

@Iz2009: I had a Jenna avatar for a long time, until I realized people looked at my avatar and just figured I was a girl. I changed it so as not to cause confusion, but Jenna still has the softest spot in my heart in the soft spot that is Golden Sun.

My greatest Golden Sun-related wish is to see her get her own game someday.

Edit: And Ivan is pretty cool too. Mind Reading came in handy almost more than Move did, and he was pretty unique amongst the characters. And I didn't have much trouble keeping him alve either. I think some people just don't know how to play.

I always thought she was going to kill someone every time she talked. I just hope the next Golden Sun explains some of the plot holes that the second game failed to explain.

Haha, that's quite an adept way of describing her! She's pretty fiesty, which is one of the reasons I liked her so much.

As do I. I've been waiting six years to see what happened to Alex! Whatever Camelot does, though, I will be pleased just to have a new game.

Even if they don't include Jenna or even mention her?

Grr, didn't even think of that! I just assumed she would be in there, since these new characters are the descendants of the previous ones, and I see her getting married to Isaac. If that was the case, I would probably go on several fanboyish rants until I felt better, and then I would be fine.

Hey new avatar. It looks amazing.

Plain old gamer :)

Depends on the time difference between Lost Age and DS. Maybe all of the original cast is in the new game, maybe. They still haven't confirmed where Sheba came from, though we do have a pretty good idea.

Yep it does! pixelman, being the incredibly awesome pixelated ninja he is, found this one and showed it too me. I put it up, and I've gotten nothing but compliments, so I think it's going to stay for quite a while.

If it's far into the future, then I wouldn't mind it at all. If it's one generation removed, though, I wouldn't like it. I feel like it's only one generation after, but that's just my hunch; there's nothing really to confirm it.

Well, Isaac is pretty awesome, so it's only natural that your avatar gets so many compliments.
