I'm an Australian that lives in the US now, and my dad died last week from cancer, so I'm currently home in Australia helping my sisters sort out dads house and whatnot. After many many years of searching I have found my old Super Nintendo from my 7th birthday and I'm ecstatic.
I want to take it back with me to the US. I'd much rather this one than buying one in the US because this one IS mine, it IS my childhood. Unfortunately, it seems the games have all gone MIA.
So, will my SNES work in the US? What do I need to do to get it working properly if not? I'm assuming the US games may not work on it, if so, any way around it or should I buy some AU games before I leave?
Also, I had sold my limited edition Pokemon N64 to a friend before I moved to the US awhile back, if they still have it, I'm considering buying that back too, but again, will it be compatible in the US?
You could always use a power converter. On the bright side, you can play Terrangima on it. (which I totally suggest if you find it for less than I paid ($140 ))
Nintendo made two kinds of lockout chips on the SNES (and N64): NTSC and PAL. Games and consoles are not compatible with the opposite type. (which is why an NA console only requires a minor cosmetic mod to play JP games, but that mod won't work to play PAL games)
Yes, if you didn't know, Australia is PAL and NA is NTSC.

I have Terranigma for my SNES and no its not modded.
