Topic: GC Freeloader Issue - Help Needed

Hi guys, was wondering if any of you could help me with this problem. I recently imported an American copy of Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness (I know it was released in Europe but importing was cheaper) and it won't load when I use the Freeloader device.

Everything starts off ok, it simply shows me the health and safety warning (In black and white), then the Nintendo Logo (In full red) and then I get an error message saying that the Disc can't be read, each and every time. I've tried using the two alternative methods for loading that are mentioned in the Freeloader manual but they don't work.

I was able to play an American copy of Custom Robo just fine using the normal method and when I try simply selecting a different region on the Freeloader, it does the exact same process I mentioned above so I'm stumped.

I looked online, no one else has reported issues so it's possible that the problem is with the disc itself. Have you tried cleaning it?

Sounds like a problem with the disc itself rather than Freeloader. Is it a second hand? You probably got screwed over.

EDIT: How do I clean the disc reader? I heard it was a tricky job

The thing I read said to just take a q-tip and some rubbing alcahol to it.

Got any other import games apart from Custom Robo? My freeloader would load about 80% of all import games without selecting a region.

Seriously doubt it's a disc reader problem; if you've got a local game store with disc cleaning service you can let them have a go at it.

The disc is a bit scratched up but I've got discs in worse condition that work fine.

All it takes is one scratch in the right place to ruin a disc but I am sure you probably know that. I have had disc that looked like someone took sandpaper to them and that when seeing that I figure great its not going to work only to have no problem at all. On the other hand I have had a disc look brand new except for one little scratch and because of that it didnt work at all.

Are there any scratches on the top side of the disc?
