Every gamer has games that we know we will never beat. Whether they are hard, frustrating, aggravating, or just not fun, you have given up on ever beating it. Which games fit this category for you? They can be on any console and be any game.

I should probably go back and beat Zelda 2 legitimately some day - I've beaten it, but I was using a game genie at the time, so doesn't really count. So without that....I'll have to say Summoner 2. Stupid mid-game mini-game.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, I am at the end but the final boss is just ridiculous.

My wife and I have a YouTube channel where we introduce each other to all the games we grew up with as kids. She grew up with Nintendo systems and I grew up with a Commodore Amiga 500. It's a fun way to replay all those ol...

I'm at peace with the fact that I'll just never beat that boss gauntlet at the end of ActRaiser.

Maybe Super C - The version I have is only the 3DS VC one but I don't think the game itself is that good and when I die it is just from not seeing a bullet properly. I don't like it enough to buy it again on the Wii U.

To each their own

Mostly I aim to beat the games that I play, though there are a few that I don't believe I will beat anytime soon:

Breath of Fire II - It's not that it's a hard RPG, it's not, and it's not that it's a bad game either, because again it's not. My problem with Breath of Fire II is the fact that it's longwinded and boring for its own good. With the first Breath of Fire I thought the length was sufficient and I considered it more engaging and fun, but with Breath of Fire II it was just very tedious and way too long a game even for me.

Mega Man VII - Now just so everyone knows: I wanted to like this game (as there's plenty to like), so much (like I wanted to like Yoshi's New Island but didn't despite it having plenty to like about it), but there were a lot of aspects that prevented me from fully enjoying it; like the fact that (to me) it's an uninspired follow-up not offering many new contributions to the series (well, maybe Bass and Treble, but that's it, nothing else otherwise). Even then I could survive the rest of the game, but then there's Dr. Wily's final boss fight (dammit, Capcom, how could you have forsaken fun in favor of frustration?!); oh, I'm not talking about the first form,... but it's the second form that just kills the game for me, and no matter how hard I try I feel it's just way too unreasonable. I'm not saying don't add some challenge to your games, but at least make things manageable (especially for [in]experienced gamers) in the long run if you're going to make things difficult; don't go the "luck over skill" route bullcrap! Just... no!!!

The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt - Again, not a bad game; this one's actually pretty good... but its main drawback is that it has to be beaten in one go. Oh, that's not necessarily a bad thing depending on the difficulty, but the area designs contribute to the game's difficulty, as well as the fact that Pugsley's got a health of three (with three-health games it either makes a game or breaks I, and in this case it sort of breaks it; if it comes to that it's something I like to refer to as "the kiss of death"), Pugsley's running speed is quite fast, and the pacing is so quick that it'll be easy to lose health if the looseness of the jumping controls isn't handled well enough. Oh, and the worst part? The area that you were in has to be started again if you lost all your lives. I could only get about halfway through, but it's one-sitting quality is heavily taxing even for me; and it could get frustrating sometimes. Give Mr. Nutz some credit, as slow-paced and hard as that game could be sometimes, it's manageable and less frustrating by comparison.

The 7th Saga - You know, I've been thinking long and hard about this, and you know what? The game is actually easily manageable if you're properly equipped and/or leveled up. The exceptions? The apprentice fights! Those damn apprentice fights; oh, the majority of them are completely optional (as far as I'm aware), but two are mandatory. The first one is not so bad, but the second one is; and that's saying something considering you have to get the rune from one of them before you progress further, and if you lose against any of them they'll take all your runes, and if you level up they level up (becoming more powerful than you already are), and if you're not careful fighting them then you're screwed! It's not a bad RPG, I just don't like the apprentice fights in this one.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World - I personally cannot stand this one. No matter how many times I try to give it another shot, I just can't find myself enjoying it or even getting that far. Must be the controls that get to me, or maybe it's the janken matches.

Xandra no Daibōken: Valkyrie to no Deai - I regret even importing this game. "Hey, here's an idea: let's make a game with a lighthearted tone that's got a super depressing plot behind it, like the main character's infant son slowly being succumbed by the plague of death, so he goes out to find a cure for the village; otherwise, oh I don't know, he loses his heart and becomes evil or some such crap! Wait, that's not interesting enough: let's add some questionably difficult area designs to make things legitimately harrowing for the main character; like the segment with the two platforms that slowly rise up and you have to jump up on them at the proper time, but they keep going faster the higher you go up that no decent human being would be patient enough to go through!! Oh, oh, oh, let's also add in a few jumping controls that cannot be controlled once in the air, contributing to the difficulty!!! We can also throw in some epic-sounding music that from time to time sounds depressing, adding to the depression value that this game's already got! How about we make a chilling theme during the password and game over segment, giving gamers nightmares for more reasons than one! ... Oh, and there's some dialogue here and there with some Valkyrie girl silhouette in the password screen; but who cares? The depressing story coupled with the demanding high difficulty will not make gamers feel sorrowful, frustrated, or depressed at all!!! It will be a succe--... oh, I just got a envelope from my superiors. Ahem, in it is a letter that says: 'You're fired!'" You know what, Namco, if not for the fact that you made the super fun Wagyan series games and that the majority of your library is fun, I would say bleep you!

in my mind not a single one, in reality I know I'll never finish my unfinished N64 games and some games from other systems, mostly because I take long breaks forget what I was suposed to do and start over to then take another long break and the cycle goes on and on and on.
but in Pokémon Stadium is because I hate using rental Pokémons and don't have a transfer pack to use my pokémon from gameboy, oh I also lost my Gameboy(color) Pokémon games so the transfer pack would be useless even if I had it... --'
and Fractured Soul has got me retrying so many times that I lost interest(to me, it's harder than retro platformers)

goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

@WanderFan91 - I've had fun with Miracle World once. And only once. I got a reallly lucky streak, and ended up getting really far. Never got even half that far again, and I forgot the trick to those janken matches...
