If you get the chance, try to purchase the first Spider-Man game for the GameCube and Kirby Air Ride. Both are very fun games, imo.

To each their own

Hmm...TO THE BACKLOG!!!

Let's see, I could recommend to you Ikaruga if you feel the need to be brutally punished by a game, but I'm not sure that's exactly what you're looking for. If you're just looking for something to start off with, I guess Super Mario Sunshine could fit the bill. It's a Super Mario game...only with a water-powered jet-pack. Moving on, there's F-Zero GX to fill that need for speed. Of course, there's always the two Metroid Prime games if you feel that your gaming needs to be a little more complex. If you regularly have gaming friends over, Super Smash Bros. Melee is probably one of, if not THE, best party kick-starter. Those should put you off to a great start.

Thanks given to Xkhaoz for that one avatar.

Thank you all for your contributions. I was actually surprised that a few of you picked "Ultimate Spider-Man"... It was one of my top games of the last generation. So far, this is my list:

Metroid Prime 1 & 2
Legend of Zelda Wind Waker & Collector's Disc
Timesplitters 2 & Future Perfect
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Super Smash Brothers Melee
Geist
Resident Evil 4
Killer 7
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Luigi's Mansion
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
Pikmin
Super Monkey Ball 2
Wario World

Ikaruga also looks good, but I'd only get it if I see it for $10 or less.

"Where are all the Sour Patch Parents?"

Jango-Forest

Luigi's Mansion
Wind Waker
Animal Crossing
Paper Mario: TTYD (there seems to be a lot of love for this game and I don't blame them)
Star Fox Assault (well, I liked it anyway)
and Mario Power Tennis for a bit of variety
There are plenty of others but the list shouldn't be too big

Jango-Forest

Kingbuilder

Resident Evil 4
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

I'd start with:

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Mario Kart Double Dash
Super Mario Sunshine
The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker
Luigi's Mansion

Get F-Zero GX or Get Out!

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Ikaruga is the definition of "bullet hell". Awesome game though. Everyone has made a ton of good suggestions but I don't think anyone suggest Battalion Wars. Prime Echoes is my favorite game on the system. Don't get discouraged playing Sunshine. That's the only Mario game I've never completed. I gave up

I know It's already been said, but I'm almost done with ExciteBots and planning to order Wind Waker soon (wasn't a Zelda fan when it came out ).

Mario Sunshine is a definite, it's one of the best 3D Marios, along with all the other ones.

I wouldn't bother with Metroid Prime 2 if you have Trilogy, but MP1 is worth getting if you're in the States. The US version of MP1 had a better story than the European one, and the European one is what made it into Trilogy.

Odama possibly. I recommend reading some reviews on that one. I read a couple of negative reviews of it and decided it sounded awesome, and I haven't regret the purchase.

For mindless multiplayer destruction, I've had a lot of fun with Gauntlet Dark Legacy, and the inventory system is better than the PS2 version..

Mario Kart DD is a definite if you've got roommates, and the coop driving can be nice if you've got one player whose just not at the same level as your other friends.

Wind Waker is possibly my all-time favorite Zelda.

Woops, over at my sister's for Thanksgiving, so this is actually Bakajin, not ruptopack. Didn't even occur to me that my brother in law might be signed in.

Unless he buys it for XBLA, which may still be never, but hey, the opinion's there for the price he's looking for.

This is true, I forgot about that. =P Still, I figured he was only talking about the Gamecube version.
