I recently purchased a secondhand Gamecube, and I'm trying to figure out what games to get for it. I already own Super Mario Sunshine, and I plan on getting the Zeldas, Timesplitters, and Metroid Primes as soon as possible. But I want to know what other games are out there.
Best games ever, and try to get the MPT on Wii, also Four Swords Adventures.

Forgot about those, but it would be easier to get Pikman and Pikman 2 for Wii. Also Resident Evil, the one that got remade.

I second the vote for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door! That is by far my absolute favorite Gamecube game! Anyone who owns a Gamecube and doesn't own this game doesn't deserve to own a Gamecube!!! Can you tell I really think you should get this game? As for other good titles, I see you are in the US and since Nintendo doesn;t seem keen on giving us NPC Pikmin 2 for Wii, it is a must play on the Cube. Pikmin 2 is a very close second for my favorite Gamecube game. Others are Luigi's Mansion, Donkey Konga, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Party 4, 5, and 6, and F-Zero. Also, if you don't own a Wii, the original Pikmin is also a great choice. Its not quite as amazing as its sequel but still completely worth playing!
I only play gamecube with my friends, so all I have for it are 4-player shooting games. Timesplitters 3 is amazing (it still has a fan base that continues to make maps here: http://s7.zetaboards.com/Rec_Room/forum/9680/). If you want some bad but fun co-op shooters, the desert storm games are good to try out. Those are the best ones.

F zero, Monkey Ball 1 and 2, Sonic Adventure 2 battle
F-Zero GX = headaches (a lot like the ones you get when playing BIT.TRIP games) The Monkey Balls were never that great. Sonic Adventure DX/2 battle are Golden (but not platinum) Games!
If he would get a BBA to connect online. Very few people play online on it nowadays, but it's not all bad for solo in getting the exclusive online goods (putting photon drops to use) and better exp from better quests for it.
I think Freedom Fighters is very much an unsung hero of last gen. It's a simplified third-person squad shooter set in Soviet-occupied New York. Since you're getting shooters I take it you dig shooters, and if you have any interest in Red Dawn or Homefront then this'll be right up your alley. It's super fun, a little corny but the combat feels good and there's some cool multiplayer as well.

Besides a lot of the obvious (and must-own) big names on these lists, I need to second the recommendations for: Animal Crossing, and Chibi-Robo. If you have an open mind, and are looking for unique, strange, funny, utterly-compelling experiences, I urge you to try both of these. And if you're not down with the AC gameplay, at least you can uncover ten or so NES classics and play them in your house... boom, worth the price of admission.
