I just got a used Gameboy Micro and the faceplate is scratched up. I thought it would be easy to replace, but no one online seems to sell anything but stickers. Even Nintendo no longer sells them. Does anyone knoe of a place where I could get one?

Thanks for the quick replies, but I already tried those places. When I checked Ebay, all I found was skins, not faceplates. Gamestop has some used ones, but the only store with some in stock is too far away, and Craig's List, though it had some other interesting things, had no faceplates that I could find either.

Heh, i was going to start this same thread. My Micro (by the way, how AWESOME is the Micro?) has a few very minor scratches on the plate, barely enough to even be noticeable but still annoying.

eBay seems to rarely have listings for faceplates as far as i've seen (though plenty for 3d party skins and such like TrueWiiMaster said). And sadly the Ninty store doesn't stock them anymore. I'll have to double check a couple Gamestops near me, since they always seem to have some shelf/wall space dedicated to the host of Ninty handheld accessories, but i think they're focused on the DS stuff (for obvious reasons).

The micro is awesome, but I wish the faceplates were easier to find. If you go to the Gamestop website and search for the faceplate, you can enter your zip code and check the nearby stores. Unfortunately, even if they are in stock, they are used, and could be in just as bad a shape as the one you have.

Does anyone know where to get faceplates or have any to sell? I'm having the same problem. I just bought a micro but it doesn't have a faceplate. All I can find are skins which are useless without a faceplate

I've been looking (on and off) for faceplates since i picked up my Micro last year, to no avail. There are very slight scratches (not gameplay-interfering, but still) on mine, and would love to get a replacement (but not one of those stupid camo or sunburst designs).

They're rare as hen's teeth aren't they. I sold mine to a fellow forumite for a song; I probably could have Ebayed them for some serious cash.

Ah well, at least someone got them who'll get use out of them!

You could try to find just another GB micro on ebay in better condition than yours is now, if you can't find a new faceplate. Then just sell your old one to make back some of the difference.

It's a bit inconvenient, but you could probably get one in good condition for around $40, which isn't too bad. Figure you can sell your scratched up one for at least $15, and you're not out THAT much money.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Does anyone have the Famicom remote 2 version? thats crazy expensive on Ebay... I always debate between SP(the bright one) or the Micro, because the size of the Micro, but the the color ansd size of the screen on the SP. Any opinions?
Edit: also does anyone know how to get the dust out from under the faceplate?

Pop the faceplate off and clean it with a lint-free cloth like you'd buy to clean eyeglasses or a plasma tv screen.

I ended up with a Micro, but which one really depends on what you're going to play. The Micro has a tiny screen, but if you play classic arcade games like the Namco Museum collection or Atari Anniversary Advance the fact that it's one-piece means rotating the screen to play a game of Tempest or Pac-Man is more possible - I cannot see holding an SP on its side to do that. On the other hand I can barely play Shanghai Advance because the screen is small enough that it's right at the limit of being able to make out the detail on the mahjong tiles.

I've been watching for faceplates on eBay or from other sources for a long time, but they are very rare to see on sale anywhere. It seems like the system didn't sell well enough that anyone other Nintendo made them - and even Nintendo appears to be out of stock. (The Nintendo store in Canada used to have some, but no longer.)

Still love my Micro though. Picked up several of the Famicon anniversary edition Micros for $15 each on clearance a few years back, and it's been easily the best gaming system I've owned. Just started playing Final Fantasy I & II during downtime, and have also recently returned to Metal Slug Advance for action cravings. Brilliant!

The faceplates I had were 3rd party in a pack of 8, so other people did make them, just not many. You can actually find listings for it online, but they all say "Out of Stock."
