So I stumbled onto a really great retro title I couldn't put down for hours last night callet BEYOND OASIS for Sega Genesis. I picked up a copy of Sonics Ultimate Collection for PS3 the other day to get my Sonic on and played this and its really fun. It play alot like Terrinigma for SNES (Europe) or for those of you that haven't been lucky enough to play that awesome game its a lot like Zelda on SNES with more of a RPG feel to it. Just wondering if anyone else has played this? If you have what did you think about it, Im 27 and it came out when I was 6 so its a pretty old game, not sure if its on VC or not. If it is its a great download.

I've played about 10 minutes of The Story of Thor (its actual title)... It's alright and maybe I'll play through it someday but nothing super special. I remember that I didn't really like the sword mechanics but maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it.

And for the record... The game came out when you were 14, it's a 1994 title. 9th of December 1994 to be exact.

EDIT: Oh, and it is indeed available on VC.

LOL I thought it said it released in 89 on the PS3 but I prob got it confused with one of the many other games, I actually think it was Altered Beast that came out in 89. My screw up. Anyways the sword mechanic is a little strange at first but about 30 min into it you find out that you can do other moves with the weapons and that helps out alot.
I figured it was prob out on VC, sold my Wii before Christmas for a nice profit lol.

LOL I figured you would say that. Its not as great as Enixs masterpiece, but its still a great game and really cheap also. The swordplay does feel a little strange at first but one you get used to it its not bad at all, I swear I never expected to like this game I just started it for an achievment on the PS3 and now Im playin this to the end. Thats good though.

Didn't expect it to be better than Terra. I've been thinking about getting the 360 edition of the Mega Drive Collection so it's all about money now.

yeah it's passable...honestly, the further I got into it, the more I caught myself wanting to play almost any other A-RPG...It was better than Golden Axe Warrior though, so it got a bit of playtime...

No Wii U yet.... Not enough first party wow titles to pull me in yet... And Nintendo's got a ways to go to repair the damage done during the Wii generation.

Ah Earthbound........ I love that game. Its just so much fun knocking out insane cultist.
@Terrinigma..... Thats how I got it. Its just called Ultimate Collection on PS3.... guess its got a different name on 360. Great batch of games on one disc and really fun achievment push you to play the games a little differently than you normally would on some of them wich is really fun.

No, they're the same on each console, i was just referring to the collection with having to remember the whole name, Sega Mega Drive ultimate Collection, although it is called Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection outside of Europe

Not if you own the original cartridge/disc of that version of the game or some other official release.

No, they are still illegal (for whatever reason). That is just one of the many, many myths surrounding ROMs.

Yes, I know that. But what you have to think about is why these laws are in place. And the answer is that they are there to protect the profits of companies (we love :)) so that they can continue to make good games. I cannot purchase this game anymore, thus by "not purchasing" it from the ROM site, Square Enix are receiving the exact same amount of money than if I not purchased it (as I can't): $0.00. I can honestly say I have homebrew on my DS and Wii, and only one illegal DS/Wii/Wiiware game: King Kong DS, winner of Metacritic's most horrible game of 2006. :)

Trust me, I've looked into the "legal backup" law. It's only legal to back it up for archival purposes then flash it back to the original cartridge, which can't be done on anything except old tape games, thus backing them up is illegal. However, if you somehow happened to be sued for this, you would most likely win because it passes the Berne 3 step test.

I'd always heard that it was legal in that method. Good thing i have none myself on my PC.

Also, what's the Berne 3 step test?
