I could use an online guide, but I usually read too much after the part I'm stuck on and end up spoiling the story for me. And the story of FFVI is just too beautiful to be spoiled.

So yeah, I'm stuck on the part where you fight Wrexsoul, or whatever his name is (At the end of Cyan's nightmare). I keep hitting his heads, but they keep growing back. What do I do!?

The thing is the Wrexsoul (? Spelling) possesses one of your characters so he's hiding in one of the characters. so the only way to kill him is draw him out by killing one of your characters. (or you could stone one character does the same thing) Killing the heads does nothing since they will always grow back (kill at least one though it'll make your fight easier). The hard thing is you don't know how to guess which character he'll possesses so it's trial and error each time. So once you draw him out hit him with everything you got and when he goes back into one your characters revive and heal all your characters and do the same process all over again. There is a way to cheap him out though. If one of your characters learn X-Zone (learned from Phantom, I think somebody will correct me if I'm wrong) and cast it on the heads and it will be an instant win but if you didn't learn it yet your either going to have grind to learn it before you fight him or beat him the hard way listed above. I agree with you on spoilers part Cyan's Nightmare is a side quest so you could be spoiled by alot depending on where a guide puts the info. I hope I helped you.

I don't know what game it is. But there is one boss you can kill by using a Pheonix Down on it.

A lot of Final Fantasy games have a boss that can be killed with a Phoenix Down. I know for a fact that there is one in FFIV, VII, VIII, IX, and I think there's one in FFX, as well. I've never played much of VI, so I don't know about that one

Your right there is a boss you can kill with a phoenix down. This isn't the one but I don't want to spoil it for him if Qwikman hasn't played through FF6 yet or has been awhile since he has. It's another side quest in the world of ruin but if he hasn't gotten there yet I'll keep my mouth shut.

I thought petrifying the possessed character only works if their HP is really low? (when I did it, I used W Wind (the tornado spell) and quickly healed the non-possessed characters)
You can use X-Zone to win the fight, but I think you only get a prize (I forgot what it is) if you destroy the boss proper.

It doesn't matter. I got the "prize" beating the boss both ways. It's just whether you took the time to learn the X-Zone spell or not in making the fight easier.

Use Super Double Mega Ultima Power, then you'll win no problem.

I remember playing this game when it was originally released for SNES as FFIII and independently discovering Genji Gloves + Offering along with Vanish + X-Zone/Doom. The fighting wasn't challenging after that, but the story was great!

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

Well I'll try the hard way later this week. (My characters don't know X-Zone yet.) I'm just trying to reassemble my team. So far I have the blonde girl (was it Celeste? I don't remember, as I rename about half the characters ), Edgar, Sabin, Relm, Cyan (obviously), and Setzer. I know the old dude is in the the Kefka Tower, but I'm not strong enough to go there yet. But I can't find Locke, Shadow, or Terra anywhere. Any vague hints as to where to find them?

Is it just me or does Relm suck? Cuz her ability only works about 40% of the time, and its almost always ineffective.

Okay. You want vague clues so I'll try to be vague as possible. Remember talk to all NPCs they'll give you clues on where to go next and also side quests. Terra is on the most eastern continent. My clue you can get there without an airship from where you started the WoR with Celes (Blondie). She won't join you at first so you'll have to visit the town twice.

Also you did remember to wait for Shadow before the floating island collapsed? If you didn't you can't get Shadow. Other then that Shadow is in cave near where you'll find Gau (he's in the same place he was in the WoB, Cyan should have told you where when you got him, he'll show up after a random battle so if you don't get him at first keep getting into fights and you'll eventually get him) Shadow will run off once you rescue him so you'll have to go to the other side of the map to get him (don't forget to get every treasure in Shadow's cave or you can't get him later there is something you need in order to get him).

Locke is the hardest to get (and I usually get him last on my playthroughs) you need enough people for 2 parties so 8 or more. He is on the first WoR continent, same one you get Sabin on but you can only get to the cave by airship.

If you need anymore clues (or just want specific answers) you can ask me since I've beaten all three ports of the game and I 100% the game everytime I playthrough.

Another little hint, you don't need to actually enter the tower to get the old dude, just have Relm in your party and you'll get a funny little scene between the two and he'll rejoin. Also I'm not sure if you need to do this (I do it anyways) but if you have Strago (old dude) & Relm in your party when you rescue Shadow you'll get an extra scene.

I also want to add before you leave Doma Castle (Cyan's Nightmare) after you beat Wrexsoul walk around the castle if you haven't already you'll get a couple extra scenes with Cyan.

kidcoyote_anarchy

No problem! It is a great game and the second half of the game is practically all side quests (not needed to beat the game) but story wise you miss alot if you don't do the side quests. I discovered this game late since I was a Sega Genesis kid growing up but once I got into retro kick this game was easily one of my top ten favorites of all time. I'm glad your enjoying it. As you can see by my signature I'm playing alot of fan-translated Super Famicom rpgs right now. I just beat Feda a couple days ago. But yeah there are alot of great RPGs on the SNES/SFC. If you like FF6 check out my post on the "best SNES graphics forum" for other games you might like. Funny I was going to post a link and my post is right under yours. Here is a link anyways.

Well I finally beat Wrexsoul thanx to u guys. (thanx, btw!) Took me almost an hour cuz he kept possessing my characters and I kept killing the wrong ones. I also got Strago into my party now.

I went to the town where Terra was a few months back, and she just disappeared. I don't know where to find her now.

I also went around Doma Castle and didn't catch any cutscenes with Cyan.

Hmm.....did you go into the "secret" downstairs area in Mobliz where all the kids are? I can't remember if that triggers something.

When you enter the town there should be a dog. Follow him. There are two houses with secret passages. She is in one the first time you go there and in the second the second time you go there. One scene and a boss battle later she's in your party. You might need to do the Cyan thing BEFORE the whole dream sequence, I could be wrong. But since it sounds like you missed them I'll just tell you it shows flashbacks of Cyan with his family before Kefka killed them.

Bassman_Q

Well I went into the first house with all the children the first time, and beat some kind of monster there. If I remember correctly, the monster was not at all hard and more like a regular enemy. However... there's a second house with a basement? I guess I'd better look around more...

It's not that hard to find. There are only three houses in the town. The secret passage in the second house is behind a bookcase.
