Oh, I see now, I've never played Battletoads so I wouldn't know...
Something else that hasn't been mentioned yet is Jet Force Jemini, pretty fun, but still had some issues. I don't think it's been mentioned anyhow.

Can't think of my favorite, but I did love Goldeneye and Diddy Kong Racing (which I was confused to see actually got really bad reviews... maybe I just suck at picking racing games. )
@Ravage Yep. Jet Force Gemini. I liked it. The style was off-putting but there was a sweet visceral quality to your pea shooter ripping through aliens Starship Troopers style.

I played DK64 at my friends house and the game was an absolute mess. Gone was the beauty and platforming of DKC. Replaced by ugly polygon shapes and generic levels.
Send me the best you've got. Send me your strongest machines. The fight my brother fought, here, now, will end with me.

No matter how much I hate on Rare, which is any time I get even the slightest chance*, even I still have some favorites from them. My All-time fave is Donkey Kong 64, followed by Banjo-Tooie and Star Fox Adventure. Kameo and Viva Pinata were pretty good, too. Oh, and of course, every game they made on the NES was a Masterpiece (too bad it was all downhill from there). In fact, I'd say those were the only quality games they ever made**.
DK 64 of course! I love the secret ending! It was a hard game, but it was totally worth it. I accually beat it just a few months ago. That proves its awesomeness. It never gets old.

First and foremost would have to be the original NES battletoads....there's some rough-edges programming now and again, but I don't think I've ever played a more ambitious game in my entire life. Only managed to non-emulator beat it once ever, and I doubt it'll ever happen again (the last level is absurdly hard, as are the gravity bikes)

I need to get that game. I tried the demo and was quite impressed actually. I like building that stuff. Although, Gmod has kind of filled that gap.
