I > III > IV > II. If you include the remakes of each generation, I'd have to bump III to the top because it has everything from Gen I, anyway, with FireRed and LeafGreen, which I may like even more than the original, but it's hard to say since I haven't played them in a long time.

Haven't yet played V, but it looks good enough, just wish they'd shake things up or start the series over or something to make me want to get another.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Gen 3.
I just loved everything about that game. The vividness, the character design, the Blaz(ing ch)i(c)kens...
Plus, May was my first video game crush.

But overall every generations have been good.

It's its, not it's.

@sushifreAk, I agree on every possible level. Gen 3 had the best style.

Gen 2, but only in context of when it was released. Otherwise, gen 4 since it has the Silver/Gold remakes anyway.

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

I has the magic the others seem to lack, but II keeps that and adds another world. So I'd say Gen 2, but Gen 1 is up there with it.

It's quite telling that after Gen 2, the Pokemon really were new. I always thought that the actual pokemon themselves totally sucked from Ruby onwards, and thats cos they were actually new. The Gen 2 pokemon were mostly made around the time of the 1st gen, but didnt make it because itd be too many. I think they lost the magic.

Also in terms of everything, like pokemon cards, and console games, the first two games just wipe the floor, stairs, ceilings, walls, surfaces and street outside with the other 3.

Notice they're remaking red and gold. will they remake Diamond? Ruby? White? hahahahahaha. Nope, cos they suck

It's funny because Black and White (2) are probably the best in the series.

My favorite right off the bat would probably be Gen III, as I can remember the awe I was in when I first played Emerald. I love all generations and all Pokemon, though.

I foresee what you'll do there.

Don't be one of those people who can't handle change and only like the first generation. No one likes those people.

My favorite is a extremely close race between III and IV. Pokemon Diamond was my very first Pokemon game that I got on my tenth birthday (Nov. 22 2007, Damn I am getting old) and Sapphire was my second (Christmas 2007), so both of the games hold a very special place in my heart (which is why I want to see a Sapphire 3D release soon Nintendo). Back to Gen. IV some of my favorites (if I can included the remakes) are Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia and Pokemon Soul Silver. I haven't played nearly as many games in Gen. III. On I and II I have only played Yellow and Blue and I haven't even played a Gen. II game (the remakes don't count), but I have plans to get Silver...as soon as I can find it cheaper than $30. The what about V? I loved Black 1 and I am loving Black 2, yet I doubt this Gen. will reach the legendary status of IV or III, but the Gen. is still young release Sapphire 3D (HINT, HINT) and then we will talk, but for the ranking will look something like this...

IV>III>V>I (II?)

Generation 1 - that's where it all started. The Pokemon in Gen 1 are the best designed. Generations got progressively less original and inspired.
Don't get me wrong, the games themselves keep getting better. But besides a few specific Pokemon, Gen 5 is full of major suckage.

hmmm... well, i did and do say gen. 2 is the best. gen. 1 is almost as good. In the way that perfect dark is better than Goldeneye, but goldeneye has that magic. In the end though, PD is probably a better game, and Pokemon gen 2 is probably better than 1.

However, my point about the pokemon designs being worse, while its a matter of taste, it holds some truth cos if you look at the 'things you didnt know in games for years' thread, a guy talks about Missingno.s and trading them into G/S.... 190 pokemon were made for gen 1, and Ken Sugimori left around the time of Gen 3... so my favoured pokemon designs, and designer, were gone by the time of gen 3, which explains why i dont like them.

I loved Gen. 3's music. Hoenn was an absolute joy to explore partly due to its catchy tunes.
