My favorite one would have to be the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES. This was the first console I ever played and the first game I played was Super Mario All-Stars. Anyone remember this game? It had Mario 1, 2, 3, and The REAL Super Mario Bros 2 in Japan all in one cartridge with updated graphics and music. I ALWAYS PLAYED SMB3!!! THIS GAME RULEZ!! SNES Rocks my socks off

Wii and DS...because if the fact thats its brought my friends and family into gaming

SNES for me. It had the original (and still the best) Mario Kart, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island, all among the best games of the era. Were it not for the Amiga, the SNES would probably be my favourite games machine ever.

Wii Code: 7714 7295 2393 7107
Goldeneye: 1829 8377 3420 - playing as [NL] KelvinG
Mario Kart Wii: 3093 9646 0225
Super Smash Brothers Brawl: 0388 0323 8824

Well, I would vote for the Wii, because I had the most fun with it and it basically combines all previous consoles. But since the Wii isn't an option for you, the choice is pretty hard...

Well, I vote for the underdog, GameCube. It had the Metroid Prime games, which were absolutely awesome, a good collection of Zelda games (including the N64 ones via the bonus discs), the first solid Mario Kart game (imho) and the GameBoy player. N64 comes in second, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask gave me some very good times, it had good shooters and it was my first own video game console (not counting any handhelds like the GameBoy).

SNES is my favourite, it´s got the greatest list of games. Super Street Fighter II, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World and Probotector are all top 10- ever games for me. Graphics are excellent, controller has the best d-pad I know.

Weird that I don´t play it much, but it´s been a while since I bought any new SNES games. They´ve become rather expensive these days.

My vote goes for the Nintendo 64. And it always will. 3D > 2D

I had Atari and Amiga, and NES/SNES, and Master/Mega and then Playstation. But when the 64 came out my gaming life changed as I was offered a level of immersion only PC games had treated me too. Mario 64 asked you to transfer your 2D platforming skills into glorious 3D, obviously some here struggled, but I wouldn't and couldn't swap triple jumps n backflips n belly-slides n butt-slams, for the pixel perfect 'challenge' of 2D platforming. I had never really visited the Mushroom Kingdom, and suddenly, I was there.
This continued with Zelda, as I was finally pulled into its world, for what became the best experience in my gaming life EVER. And here I am, fifteen years later, re-visiting it's sequel on VC.
Gaming had always been a fun distraction, but only when the 64 arrived did I fall to my knees and bow down.

I know you don't wanna know, but here's some of the reasons I love the N64:-
Analogue Stick (nuff said). Ergonomic Controller (perfected with the GC/Wavebird). Rumble (Lylat Wars/Stone of Agony). Cartridges (and we all miss those). 4 players (had so much fun). I still think its the best looking console as well, lovely lines and that curved cartridge, mmmmm.

And here's all the best games that swallowed my life during (and after) the 64 era:-
1080, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Beetle Adventure Racing, Blast Corps, Body Harvest, Conkers BFD, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong, Duke Nukem 64/Zero Hour, Episode 1: Racer, Excitebike, Extreme-G, F1 GP, F-Zero X, Fighters Destiny, Forsaken, Glover, Mario 64, Mystical Ninja, Goldeneye, Hybrid Heaven, ISS, Jet Force Gemini, Lylat Wars, Mario Golf, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Mickeys Speedway, Micro Machines, Mischief Makers, Paper Mario, Perfect Dark, Pilotwings, Pokemon Snap, Quake II, Rainbow Six, Ridge Racer, Rocket RoW, Rogue Squadron, Rush 2049, Shadowman, Sin & Punishment, Smash Bros, Snowboard Kids, Space Station Silicon Valley, Tetrisphere, Tony Hawk 2, Top Gear Rally 1 & 2, Turok 1 & 2 & Rage Wars, Wave Race, Wetrix, Wipeout, World Driver Championship, Worms, Yoshi's Story and of course Zelda OoT and MM.

Phew, i'd apologize for going on, but it seems to be the done thing here

Please feel free to pick holes in my list of favourite N64 games, so I can vent at you.

Rawr!

I loved the N64 and snes so much but because the N64 didn't have a Metroid game my vote goes to the SNES!

I have fond memories of playing the SNES with my bro in my early years, so it gets my vote. I unfortunately missed out on the NES and N64.

Hahaha, you know me. Though it surprisingly has been pretty cool! Also, it looks like we have a clear winner. All bow before the SNES!

I'm going to have to go with N64 too. It was the first Nintendo console I owned, and 3D Mario and Zelda just blew me away. It was also just so much fun to get groups of people over and play. Goldeneye and Smash really made it THE social console of the day. SNES has a lot going for it though, so it's really close. If I had owned one instead of a Sega, I might feel differently.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

That's what I loved the N64 for, too. It really popularized having four players on one console, and even the crappiest games usually had a decent multi-player mode.

N64. Starfox 64 and Majora's Mask have been good to me. Not to mention Cruisin USA and Super Mario 64.

I miss having a chatroom that was always in beta.

SNES would be second. Top Gear 2 and Super Mario All Stars are sweet.
