I think my vote goes for Fusion. It was also the first Metroid game that I've ever played. And it's really damn good.

[19:48] Ninten: lz, your avatar is weird. [19:48] Ninten: Reggie is like..."Duh, no Mother series for you Americans!" [19:49] lz2010: That was the point Ninten ;)
1. Metroid Fusion 2. Metroid Prime 3. Metroid Prime Hunters
Keep in mind, these are the only Metroid games I have played. I LOVED Metroid Fusion! My friend didn't like it, so he gave it to me. If only he knew what he was missing out on! I think I've played through that game at least 6 times. I've only had Metroid Prime for a month or so, since it came from the Metroid Prime Trilogy, but I like it better than the DS Metroid because the atmosphere was much better on a home console. I got scared a lot more when I was playing Metroid Prime in the dark compared to MPH.
If you think New Super Mario Bros. Wii is hard, try Super Mario Bros. 3.

Books I'm reading: "Uncle Tom's Cabin"
How did I not see this thread a lot sooner? Anyway, I own—and have completed—all of the games in the series with the exception of Hunters (though, I have played my cousin's copy, but didn't get to pass it before he wanted it back [since my brother took to it as well]), and my list is as follows...
1. Super Metroid 2. Metroid Prime 3. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption 4. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes 5. Metroid II: The Return of Samus 6. Metroid Zero Mission 7. Metroid Fusion 8. Metroid 9. Metroid Prime Pinball 10. Metroid Prime Hunters
They're all superb games, and—in my opinion—Metroid is Nintendo's best franchise. Don't get me wrong, I love Mario and Zelda, but Metroid is just on a completely different level...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
Super Metroid but Metroid Prime is not far behind. I haven't played Echoes yet (though I own it) or Corruption. The only others I've played are Metroid and Metroid II: Return of Samus and I'd say Metroid II ranks slightly ahead of the original though the original was a crazy experience when I was young. I'm excited about The Other M but I'm really not a huge fan of Team Ninja and part of my love for Metroid is the exploration and incredible sense of loneliness that the game brings.
