When Gameboy color first came out in 1998 it was just a little too late. Only three years later it was replaced by GBA.
I barely owned any games for GBC and I was wondering if I missed any great ones? Link's awakening DX which was just a colorized original gameboy game, Oracle of seasons/Ages and the Wario land sequels is pretty much all I had. Oh and Kirby's Dream land 2. That's about it.
Anything else I missed?

That's one I actually passed on. I already had so many versions of the original Super Mario bros. I guess I didn't see the point in owning another. Were there any extras that made it worth it?

Pokemon Gold

I would say that or Crystal, but of course the two used copies I got of those games didn't save. Sigh
So I settled for Pokemon Red and Yellow versions, which were great in their own rights too. The only one I still own that's really worth mentioning is Pokemon TCG. That was like the actual card game to the nth degree.

Actually Super Mario Bros Deluxe has a slightly cut up version of the real SMB2, but world9 is removed. The problem with that game and why I would recommend not getting it is when they made it, they didn't adjust the screen size like those GBA NES classics so you have an annoyingly reduced vertical and horizontal view area causing things to be harder with some aggravating leaps of faith normal SMB1 doesn't have, and you get less time to react to enemies or damaging structures.

I know it's a dog price wise but Shantae is fantastic, and if you like little kind of point and click stuff Cannon Fodder is cool and also Warlocked(it's literally Warcraft1 with new missions both sides too) is a must have. If you ever were a fan of the old Dragon's Lair arcade they recreated it on there accurately short of 8 moves missing which is amazing. Beyond that it's a given much of the first party stuff like Mario Golf(far better than the sketchy gba one, tennis too) is a given though those third party zelda's were bad the remake of Link's Awakening is good. Ultimately it would come down to taste but I think you could likely build up a library of a couple dozen games before you got into lame ports or just truly awful shovelware, kid stuff, and licensed trash. I think I should throw in if you do like 'pokemon' like games, but also are a fan of Enix, Dragon Quest Monsters was a truly great game and the dungeons were randomly generated which gave it even more replay value.

Precisely why i hated SMB Deluxe.

And definitely agree with pretty much all your other reccomendations, particularly Link's Awakening an Mario Golf..

I don't perticularly know what my favourite GBC game was because the games were not anymore advanced than the gray carts. I liked SMB DX because it awared skill well with a "achevement" system, a use for the point scoreing system, extra single/multi player modes and printable items "giving use to the GB printer". My favourites would either be SMB DX or Mega Man extreme 2 !

In my case it's any of the Nintendo-published Game Boy Color games I've ever played; including, but not restricted to, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe; The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages; Wario Land II and 3; Donkey Kong Country; and Pokemon GS. There're plenty more that I've played over the years, but I should keep it brief.

That's why I stopped playing it like 10 dungeons in. There were only a handful of maps, and they began repeating in the same dungeon (just with different graphics). Also, I didn't see as much need as Pokemon to really build a balanced team. Just take a couple and level them up. Maybe I didn't play far enough on that, though.

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (anyone else hearing an echo around here?) and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX.

I'm back (for the moment)!

Still a lot of GBC games I've yet to play. The Zelda and Pokémon games were essentials, as well as Super Mario Bros. DX, which was an all-round impressive package.
