Redspotgames website is worth checking out, an indie developer still releasing games on DC their latest release just last year, as for classics Shenmue 1 & 2 are great games, actually didn't enjoy Shenmue on 1st playthrough, took my 2nd playthrough to see how special it was, Soul Caliber would be another must have IMO, also Phantasy Star Online still has people playing, if you can figure out the private server stuff, which sadly I never did, then I'd suggest getting that too.

Checked out that Redspotgames, they were the ones who ported The Last Hope, apparently. Neat. Also, looks like they got another shooter in the works, I hope its good.
And I already got a Private Server going for Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst on my comp, though I'm not sure if my account's still there. I <3 PSO!
Just got a Dreamcast with 9 games and the Web Browser, 2 controllers, 2 VMUs, and all the cables for $31. The games are: Resident Evil Code: Veronica MDK2 Shenmue Sonic Adventure Hydro Thunder Crazy Taxi Chu Chu Rocket! Sega Marine Fishing Sega Bass Fishing
And I just bought Maken X, though it was the Import version, which lacks censorship. I'll fill out my collection some time in the future based on all your recommendations. Thank you all very much!
Damn that's a hell of a deal. A great wide variety of games to start with. Now keep perspective and pace yourself so you don't get burnt out or just scratch games and not finish them.

I'm trying to land a cheap shooter to round it out. I'll be bringing it to college with me along with my Sega Genesis and handhelds, and probably won't get too many games for it in the mean time, so I'm sure I'll play them all to the fullest.
I still have chuchu rocket but the better GBA version which has far more maps. Gigawing I do agree is a fantastic shooter to grab as is Gunbird, both were out here in the states. Mars Matrix would be another to definitely look into, and while a shooter it's more 'smash tv' like I'd say do not avoid Cannon Spike.

Capcom's Giga Wing is a good effort for a cheap price. Great deal though, ChuChu Rocket will take over your life
Giga Wing was actually the reason why I wanted a Dreamcast, actually. Sadly, the price jumped sky high in roughly 2 years.
Well when the Dreamcast was market-wise 'on the scrapheap' games were so cheap that i bought a LOT of em. Giga Wing for instance was around 10 Guilders, lets roughly say...3 English Pounds...and that wasn't the only game! I couldn't believe it back then that a console of such outstanding quality was virtually rendered obsolete in such a short time. Nor do i understand it now by the way
Blame Sega, they're idiots. They started the stupid by canning the Gamegear and the Genesis before they were dead on the deluded idea the Saturn would godly such own the market-- right. They also felt more expensive than the system addons called CDX and 32X would make the Genesis last like the NES for a decade...also stupid. Basically between that and having the marketing genius of such level it makes Namco's American branch as wise as they come they were vastly bleeding cash and deep in debt. No matter how popular or not the Dreamcast was, there was no way in hell they were going to survive running the ship as they were. Then with Sony being sketchy and jerks as they were with their media dept as they did to Nintendo with the fake sticking kiddie belief, they put out massive pre-art pics, game shots, and note of hardware more than a year out (PS2) and said specifically don't buy sega, we have this, and it does far more -- the PS1 fanboys listened and that was the final nail persay in the coffin. I miss my DC.

@JK They lied a couple of years before stating that the graphics would look as good as the CG as seen in the upcoming Star Wars Phantom menace!....Ridiculous BS claims, just like how Sony said the PS3 was capable of running games at 120fps.
Yeah I remember that and didn't buy into it. Looking back, the Dreamcast did seem to have better visuals and performance than the PS2. I wonder if the PS2 was actually even more powerful than the Dreamcast and, if it was, did something stop it from reaching its full potential? Like maybe was too difficult to program for? Not as much RAM so lower quality textures? Maybe the quality Sega put into their titles was just of a higher standard? I don't know but now, since both consoles have run their life, it might be a good time to compare the two.
Haha, all i know is that PS2 games were extremely difficult to develop The Dreamcast games do show a wider colour range as far as i know. Dreamcast games were also very sharp-looking from the very beginning, while PS2 games were much later sharp-looking. It is no wonder why the crisp-looking and atmospheric Bizarre Creations' Metropolis Street Racer (one of my favourite games ever) became the main inspiration for Sony's London studios, developing The Getaway.
I wouldn't say that about Sega personally. The Mega CD and the Saturn gave me some of my fondest gaming memories.
That doesn't change the fact that they were a terribly run company who drove themselves into the ground through a multitude of terrible and honestly stupid decisions, unfortunately.
That's true but I'm just saying, I personally, loved the Mega CD and the Saturn. Obviously they made some stupid decisions but I thoroughly enjoyed their games during those hard times.
