If you think about it, the Wii is most unique console in this generation, thanks to its awesome exclusive titles. I don't hate the 360 and PS3, but the games on that system are somewhat generic.

If it wern't for the Wii, I might've been entirely a last-gen & retro gamer. The X360 & PS3 arn't really appealing to me right now for multiple reasons.

Agreed. I feel the exact same way...
I mean I baught a 360 a couple years back and sold it after 8 months because i was just bored and unimpressed by most of the titles, But I guess you could say that's because most of the games i played would of benifited so much more with motion/IR controls. It felt like i was playing last gen Xbox games with a new coat of paint. Dual Analog for aiming doesn't cut it anymore, it bores me to tears especially after experiencing Metroid Prime 3 and Resident Evil 4 for the wii ect. The 360 controller also doesn't do it for me. the Analog sticks are a tad better than the PS3's, but i just hate the feeling of it and size, it's too modern and sucks for sidescrollers, fighters and retro titles...mainly because of that horrid d-pad. it had to of been the worst console I've ever owned. But then again, i could say the same thing about the Virtual Boy and Sega Saturn...Actually the saturn had some pretty solid titles if you looked for them.

Anyways, So after I sold my 360, I got a PS3 instead, which i now basically use as a DVD/Bluray player. I mean ya there are a few titles I like...Super Street Fighter HD Remix(total addicting online) is just fantastic but could easily ported to the wii withought the HD, Resident Evil 5(although the PS3 version has soft graphics, crappier contrast, slowdown and is missing certain effects compared to the razor sharp better looking 360 version) was good but a dissapointment compared to RE4. Blaze Blue looks pretty awesome on the other hand and I just can't help but feel annoyed with Dead Space....I mean it looks like a solid game, but i hate the controls....I wish i could aim with the Wii Remote instead of the clunky robotic stiff Dual Analog controls...Again though, like the 360 nearly all of the titles dont appeal to me, and i feel like i completly wasted my money on it considering i use it just for movies. There isn't one title i'm honestly looking forward to....And No I'm not interested in BioShock 2. the first one bored me once i hit the second area, it became tedious and again, where's my IR Controls? ;p God of War 3 is on the way, but i'm just not a fan of 3D brawlers, then there's the Last gaurdian And Super Street Fighter IV, so ya...

All in all...if there was no Wii this generation, I'd just be gaming on my DS.(which i love) and it blows the 360 and PS3 to smitherines. Best handheld everr ;p Just wish those 4 Buttons were a tad bigger.

Maybe some people just don't like the new style of gaming. Personally I think this generation is better than the last. The gamecube is underrated but still most of the good gamecube games were not as good as the best Wii games. Many of the biggest series (other than Metroid) were a let down. Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart & Star Fox were definite steps backwards. Smash Brothers I liked less F-Zero I liked more but many prefer F-Zero X. The Gamecube had a large chunk of solid titles while the Wii has a lot of excellent ones and a lot of crap ones. There are a ton of good games for the HD consoles but they are good in different ways from the games of old.

ive always felt that the gamecube was unfairly bashed. it was bashed for 2 things, being a purple box and being geared towards kids.

More accurate reasons the Gamecube was bashed would be the **** third party support and total lack of online offering. Oh, and the choice of media for the games.

Wow, it's being bashed for those reasons? I for one, do not mind that it is shaped like a cube, nor do I mind that it is being geared towards kids. Also @TheFox, you're complaining about the size of the disc? Preposterous!
The GameCube was the second console I owned (after the PlayStation), and it was quite interesting that the discs were about half the size of your regular average CD. I actually liked it, and it was very unique.

You really censored "crappy" when you quoted me? Good thing I didn't use the word I was first going to. And as I said earlier, the actual size (physical or capacity) wasn't the only problem with the disc. Gamecube discs are more prone to failing from scratching, and resurfacing them is tougher. Also, by excluding DVDs they kept the machine from doubling as a DVD player for gamers. While that was less of an issue as DVD players became dirt cheap, it hurt in the beginning.

Wii allows you to play games from the nes, snes, n64, gamecube and Wii. Plus there is wiiware , games with and games without motion control, great new 2D games and great new 3D games. There is a lot of diversity thanks to the Wii and this is the best generation ever.

I find it funny and somewhat sad that people seem to believe that the 360 and PS3 lack variety. :sigh: I guess it's as the old saying goes - people see what they want to see.

I'm just gonna say plain no. I think the Wii is the best generation for Nintendo since the NES. This is because of the risk that they took. Just like with the NES they were taking a risk with the Wii and its motion control, both were said to be doomed from the start and look at them both, Nintendo's best selling systems. I respect Nintendo for taking many risks in their time but not only is the fact that they were willing to make a major change for this generation, but the great games that have come out, all better than their predcessors like:
Super Mario Galaxy >Super Mario 64> Super Mario Sunshine
SSBB>SSBM>SSB
Twilight Princess>Ocarina of Time (I'll Say It )>Wind Waker
and thats just a few and on top of that all the solid new games:
No More Heroes
Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom
Final Fantasy The Crystal Bearers
The Conduit
Muramasa
de Blob
Boom Blox
and the retrun of old series like:
Excite (Fill In Blank With Title)
Sin and Punishment
Monster Hunter on home console
All great games on the Wii, I belive that the Wii is better than every Nintendo console made as of yet and the HD consoles are pretty good too!

were you offended by the fact that the 360 and ps3 suck? awww

No, we're offended by your impudence, and by the fact that you made such a brash, off-topic statement for no reason. Please reframe from making anymore offensive and hard-minded comments, before the mods have to get involved. Well all have to respect eachothers' opinions here. To call your opinion a "fact" is by no means "respectful".

At the very least elaborate on your views. You speak as if such a thing were common sense, yet it is obvious by the other comments in this thread(let alone the millions that bought and enjoy an Xbox 360 and/or PS3) that it is obviously not. If you do not explain your reasoning, how can you expect anyone to understand you? Also, make sure you back up your opinion with facts. You can't just just make an opinionated statement without any facts to support your reasonings and expected to hold up under scrutiny. These are just suggestions, but such things would greatly improve your posts.

@The_Fox

"You suck"? Really? That's the only comeback you could think of? I thought you were more cleaver than that. clever like a fox

No reason to be harsh, mnementh. No reason to insult anyone, either.

Back on topic: I find this generation to be quite good, to be honest. Times have changed since the past generations, yes, but I find this generation good.

@Supermarioman
I think it's just because the games of this generation don't feel as good to me. I'm in the minority here, but I think
Super Mario Sunshine>Super Mario 64>Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Melee>Super Smash Bros>Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Ocarina>Windwaker>Twilight Princess
That's why I think this generation isn't as good. All of the franchises I listed are better, imo, in past generations. Of course it's just opinion, but it's not nostalgia, it's just personal preference.

cleaver? that film from the Sopranos? Yes, PS3 and 360 suck. Of course it's my opinion. What did you think it was, Obama's opinion? and who's "we"? it seems most people here agree that the Wii is much better. I'm happy with that. If you and your buddy are not, that's your problem. The mods should be involved with you and your buddy for making it "personal". It's not about "X user sucks", it's "PS3 YLOD garbage/360 RROD garbage" suck. Learn to deal with it. And it definitely wasn't off-topic. Maybe you're just totally clueless.

In that, not only did you insult a hell of alot more, but you still didn't justify why you think they suck.

On Topic: I feel that I would prefer a Wii, however, I do occasionally wish I had either a 360 or PS3, for the games that they have on their Marketplace and PSN store. Also, some of the games available on those consoles (eg Resi 5, COD 6, Arkham Asylum) are games I wish I could play but won't be able to cause of my computer.

EDIT: Whats the PS3's YLOD?

There's nothing wrong with this generation of games, just as there was nothing wrong with the last, and the one before that and so on. ill just list a few of the masterpieces we've gotten this generation:

Fallout 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins, Borderlands, Dead Space, GTA4, Left 4 Dead. There's alot more, of course but I won't waste time making this list longer than it needs to. If all you play is the Wii, then of course you're gonna be dissapointed with the current-generation. But make no doubt, there's been alot of great releases these past few years.

@mnementh - if you think those two consoles are bad, then why not tell us why you think they're bad, instead of saying they're bad just 'cause you think they are. Oh, and that's offensive, 'cause you're calling us clueless. Think before you post, please?

On topic: This generation has a lot of fantastic games; i.e. Super Mario Galaxy, A Boy and his Blob (Wii remake), Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (if the DS counts as this generation), etc...

Sigh.........I thought saying "you suck" was obviously a lighthearted reply to your brief post.

One thing to consider, though: you would be surprised about how many posters here don't limit themselves to one system.

EDIT: I took no joy in editing your post, Fox. But the rest of the stuff wasn't really necessary. Untitled

my favorite gens were the SNES and PS1/N64-time becaus of lots of games that wrote videogame history

this gen there are plenty of good games (i own all three platforms), but most of those games didn't blow my mind as Ocarina of Time or Metal Gear Solid 1 did... graphics get better and better, but the gaming experience itself mostly stagnates

sadly, big presentation becomes more and more important and gameplay seems to recede into the background (Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavy Rain, ...)

To an extent, my top 3 consoles would be Genesis, Saturn and N64, which are past consoles, after those I felt Sega and Rare went into decline, 2 of my fav developers that in the past made some of my fav games, this gen is pretty good too, LKS was a fantastic game and wiiware has a number of original titles, but still the golden age to me will probably always be Sega and Rares good years.

I don't think it's worse, I just think the direction the mainstream is going isn't my and a lot of other Nintendo gamers cup of tea. I don't really like shooters unless they're old-school style shmups or on-rails. Seems like every other big budget game on PS3 and 360 nowadays is an FPS or third person shooter. Metal Gear, Call of Duty, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Uncharted and the one's that aren't FPS or third person shooters are straight action games like Bayonetta. I like shoot-em-ups, but I don't like beat-em-ups. I prefer my action games to have adventure elements (action/adventure) like Zelda. On top of that, I like adventure games. There ain't a single decent adventure game I can think of on PS3 or 360. All the good adventure games now are on Nintendo systems or PC. I also like platformer games, once again, where are the platformer games like Mario Galaxy on 360 or PS3? None really. In the end I think my tastes have just shifted away from the games that are mainstream, the games all the blogs and sites like Gametrailers talk about most. I've become a niche gamer. Now I find a lot of my gaming enjoyment comes from more obscure smaller games, like the recent Tomena Sanner. If that makes me out of touch, fine, I'd prefer to play the games I enjoy rather than scramble to keep up with everything that's hot and current.
