Ok, so this could arguably belong in another section, but to my mind anything pixel art related can be considered to be relevant to retro gaming.

Anywho, just saw this Kickstarter project and I think it's a great idea - I'd love to be able to decorate the walls of my place with stuff like this, maybe even have a crack at re-creating some of the old school FF sprites!

Unfortunately, it doesn't look likely to hit it's target in time which is a real shame, but I figured if I share here and others do the same, that at least increases its chances a little bit. So yeah, spread the love, because I want me a box of these and I'll be gutted if it doesn't happen!

(PS, apologies anyone who's already seen this on Pushsquare, I just really like the idea of these so want to try and get it as much visibility as possible!)

From 16/08/15 I’m going for sober for six months to raise money for the Princess Alice Hospice. Donations can be made here and anything you can offer is greatly appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Butler5

Wish me luck!

@Turnip-Forest the reward of getting the art done is to care it pixel by pixel hence pixel art.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

It looks pretty cool, although I'm just imagining how expensive this would be if your dream pixel art/style came from the SNES, GBA or even DS era...

That said, it'd be pretty neat to see someone actually try and make something like... a Metal Slug scene using a few thousand of these things. Or try and remake a sprite of Antasma from Mario & Luigi Dream Team with 'em.

Thanks for sharing, this is a neat idea. Just FYI - they've relaunched the kickstarter and have already met their new goal with 11 days to go: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2144941544/1x1-stick-you...

No sir, thank YOU for sharing the update re the re-launch - after seeing it wasn't going to hit target first time round, I hadn't thought to look back and check for anything like this, and would probably have let it pass me by altogether. Time to get my fundraising hat on!

There's quite a lot of Final Fantasy pixel art that I reckon it could be fun to try and recreate with these (including where people have re-created later 3D characters in pixel art style). Personally, I'd like to have a go at re-creating this scene from FFVI that somebody has done with those bead things that stick together (can't remember what they're called):
