Topic: Could my classic controller work with my Gamecube games if I mod the wireing?

Recently I had to butcher my black Gamecube controller for it's analog stick.Since the controller will be unusable I thought maybe I could convert my classic controller to work with Gamecube games if I cut the wire of the classic controller and cut the Gamecube cable off the Gamecube controller and put the wires together.Could this work and would the shoulder buttons act the same way the Gamecube controller's shoulders does or work at all.
