With Christmas right around the corner I thought I would be kinda interesting to post this vintage video from 1990 talking about the hot new 16 bit consoles on the horizon and how the economy was doing around that time period.

Second time this quarter I've been misled by a title into a retro thread (via All Topics)

Yup. I don't pay much attention at all to whatever Sony and MS are doing these days. Both consoles have no soul in comparison to the Sega Genesis.
Plus those old school flashy early 90's 'Sega Does what Nintendon't' commercials were just too awesome. My, how video game commercials for the most part have fallen.

Yea there was some great marketing for SEGA back in the day, with Blast Processing, and Welcome To The Next Level and stuff like that. Nintendo fired back with their Donkey Kong Country commercial though in 1994 when Sega was doing all their Nintendon't ads.

It's also funny how people complain about how much games cost at 40-60 dollars nowadays but some people forget that some games back then went for as much as 70 dollars. I believe I have heard of some close to 80 dollars or so..... But I was too young at the time to remember...

Back then it really felt like competition. Like there was 2 monsters in gaming who genuinely didn't like each other.

when Street Fighter II came out for the SNES here it was actually more expensive than a brand new console with 2 controllers. Games were expensive back in the day.
