Could someone please give me a list of all the North American released Castlevania games that play like the classic NES series (besides perhaps Simon's Quest to an extent), not the SotN onward style? I know there's been few since then but are there any besides that Game Boy game released shortly after?
Castlevania : Rondo of Blood (PC Engine)
X68000 (X68000 - Ported but it is not as good to the Playstation as Castlevania Chronicles)
Castlevania (NES)
Castlevania 3 (NES)
Castlevania Bloodlines (Megadrive).
Super Castlevania IV (SNES - Not very good)
Castlevania Dracula X (SNES - Not very good).

I think at that point it would be necro posting since that thread hasn't had a reply for over a year now. So please let's not encourage that its really really annoying. :/

Take out the question mark. Boom. Instant Castlevania discussion thread. No need for necro-posting.
Also, anybody else think Bloodlines is one of, if not the best-looking and most detailed 16-bit game of its era?
I would say it is up there. One of the best games on the Genesis, period.
i just beat bloodlines last week, i think i beat it back in the day too. yes bloodlines is very good looking. draculas last form is the easiest boss ive ever fought.
@ the op, if yer going to tread the waters on the retro forum dont come here screwing anything up. i wish you luck, were a tough crowd

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

Yep, I actually like it more the Super Castlevania but I think that is because it's a brand new story rather then a remake like Super Castlevania is. I also liked the sequel to Bloodlines which was on the DS Portrait of Ruin.

Agreed but some Japan-only games on SNES pushed the limit even further imo (Seiken Densetsu 3 and Star Ocean).
you still lose.

100%'d Rondo of Blood recently. I am INCREDIBLY impressed by that game. It's gorgeous and addictive on every level. Best soundtrack I've ever heard in a Castlevania game. Easily tops Bloodlines and Super Castlevania IV.
