We've recently hit milestones for Mario, Zelda and Metroid. Well another Anniversary is also coming up soon. This Monday sept 26th will be 25 years of Castlevania. Will any of you be celebrating by playing some of your favorite games in the series? Think Konami might be planning something cool to mark this occasion? Let's hope so! [youtube:_DXB1ZtCJ9E]

@ Waveboy In Dracula's curse you can refuse help from the other characters if you want. Even if you take one along you don't have to use them. You are able to switch between the two.

I won't be able to play any of their games (well, on a console anyways) on Monday so I'll be doing most of my celebrating this weekend. I think I'll try and beat SCIV again.

@ Waveboy I started playing Castlevania with the original Nes game. I wasn't really hooked on the series until Dracula's curse. I later got my hands on Super CV IV and it blew me away! That one plus Rondo are probably my favorites. I also really enjoyed SOTN but I am getting kinda burnt out on that Castletroid style though. I hope there's something in the works for 3DS. It's been a long time since they made a truly satisfying Castlevania game.

Konami should release Castlevania: Bloodlines for the Wii VC for the anniversary. They wont but it would be nice.

Wow, I totally didn't even put 2 and 2 together that this is Castlevania's 25th! I feel like such a bad fan... Oh well, Castlevania is my 2nd favorite series behind Metroid. Castlevania was was of the games I grew up on as a kid. I rarely could get pass the mummies back then though! haha... The music and atmosphere was all great and I could play those 3 levels over and over again. Simon's Quest then came out and I didn't know what the heck to do with it then so I didn't play it to much. Though, I do now have it for the NES and intend to play it someday. The first Castlvania game I owned was Dracula's Curse and I could make it farther in that one at least when I was younger. I played that one alot but it was tough. Surprise, never beat it. Nintendo Power, thank you for providing me with the HELP ME code. In Castlevania they give you 5 guys and in Dracula's Curse they give you 3 without the code? Brutal I am telling you! Especially with that really long level where you have to wait for all those the blocks to drop! Right now I am taking a break from that game but I am on the Reaper's level and have my trusty NES Atlas nearby. I will fire it up for the best parts closer to Halloween. B-D Super Castlevania IV was amazing as a kid I rented that on the old Super but never owned it and today ranks as my favorite game. I have it on the VC and play that all time but someday I will buy it complete. Then BOOM, just like the main gate closing the castle upon entering, my Castlevania playing as a child came to a sudden close.
From my Playstation days up until this current generation I got to say I was lost in the Forest of Monsters in regards to my video gaming. I went through this whole sports fad among other unmemorable games and even missed out Sympony of the Night!. The VC helped me rediscover Castlevania with Rondo of Blood and Super. I finally got to beat Super and appreciate it even more today and got to play the oh so groovy Rondo for the first time. Rondo is a lot of fun, its probably #2 for me. I like its unique discotech style of the music more than the Castlevania Rock from SOTN onwards but Super's soundtrack is and will always be the best. Bloodlines has a decent soundtrack as well. Man, Konami was the bee's knees back in the day.
I need to still try so many Castlvania games including all on the GBA & N64, REbirth, SOTN, maybe even Lords of Shadow. I have Bloodlines though I have only played a couple of levels of it and will give that the full Ryno treatment in the future. Castlevania will long live on with me and I will be for sure celebrating Castlevania's 25th by sending Dracula back to hell (again)!
Don't worry Ryno I forgot it was today too until you brought it up. Thankfully there's still plenty of time to celebrate and here's some music to get it started.

Wow I didn't even know it was today! As for me, I'm going to hold off on my Castlevania games for just a little bit to wait for October to start. Then it's all horror games for me. I never grew up with the series and just got into it (i've plyaed to original, SOTN, Rondo, POR, and I intend to get Rebirth and Circle of the Moon.) Actually, I would recommend looking at the 20th anniversery box just for a brief CAstlevania nostaliga rush

Yes, Heart of Fire! As much I love the classic Vampire Killer and all its different versions, Heart of Fire is my favorite orginal NES Castlevania song. The last part of the level and the whole 4 hits till your dead design sucks big old hairy batty garlic cheeseballs.
Wow, so this is it? This is how N'life is going to throw down for Castlevania's 25th? I have experienced more excitement in a graveyard.
@Ryno: Yeah I'm a little disappointed too. Hopefully Nintendo Life will do a feature on it sometime this week. I know Metroid's and Zelda's anniversaries are important too but you can't forget about Castlevania. The best games in the series are on the Nintendo consoles (excluding Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night).

The image is 1024x768, the original art work for Castlevania done by Konami. I can't remember how I ever found this in such a large and clean image, but given the anniversary I figured I'd link it up if you want a copy to download as it makes for a nice desktop. I just wish I could find loads more of them from that and the 16bit era as some box art was spectacular.
@ Cheetahman91 Have you heard Heart of fire on Aria of sorrow for GBA? [youtube:JiSo9yL59Pw] This version of the song is pretty awesome!

Doesn't seem like there's alot of love for Castlevania anymore. Either that or people only notice when Mario and Zelda have an anniversary. I thought vampires were more popular these days.

Or maybe it's just that Konami doesn't seem to be doing anything for the anniversary, and people here talk about Castlevania in other threads all the time. With no actual anniversary "celebration" being done (via releases or whatever), there's not much "anniversary-specific" stuff to really talk about.
