YEAH! Super Metroid, my all time favorite video game, is 20 years old today!
What's your guy's favorite memories form this amazing game?
Mine would have to be either getting the Ice Beam or Screw Attack, and then my favorite boss fight was Draygon. I know a little trick where if you blow open the electricity ports before he enters the room you let him capture you and you use the grappling hook to grab the ports and he gets electrocuted and dies in one hit.

omg i remember trying over and over again to fight that boss. when i finally realized you could electrocute him like that i went crazy! but it was awesome. i remember the day a few years ago when i actually tried to beat him without that trick and how impressed i was with myself for finally doing it.

another thing i keep on doing on play throughs, is ending up going down the hole where you get the grappling hook on the way back up, but you need to super run up that ramp, and you need to clear the path with a power bomb first, except i got there before i get power bombs, so i either need to reset or wall jump back up then go get some power bombs first. i just did this again playing it on the wii u, but luckily right at the top of the hole, there is a spot you're supposed to get across with the grappling hook that has a power bomb, and i managed to get up across it without the grappling hook yet so i didnt have to go back too far.

edit: also being stuck down in the hole with those little creatures trying to learn how to wall jump for the first time. it felt like i was there for hours, and then i would finally get to the point where you could see the top, and then miss the last jump. then for awhile i wouldn't even be able to do one or two wall jumps without falling.

Fighting that one boss underwater and getting powned because I couldn't understand how to attack it, and then I just yelled out "BUM RUSH!!!" and I went crazy firing missiles at it and my friend was like "that's not gonna work you know" LOL it worked.

I have come to accept this sad notion for a while now.

I somehow missed this game when it originally came out but I bought I bought a copy like around 2005 for $5.00 (before retro gaming inflation kicked in) and it is a big reason why I got back into retro gaming and collecting. It became my favorite game of all time, it is just a masterpiece from everything to the challenge, atmosphere, graphics, and music.

Best ending of any SNES game. I still remember shouting "WHOA HOLY S--T!!!" both when [SPOILER ALERT] Mother Brain grew a body out of nowhere, and when Samus's metroid came to rescue her.

Yeah I was one of those people that got stuck down that hole. Part of me wanted to restart at that point but I just couldn't give up. Eventually got out but still suck at wall jumping.

I remember getting to Maridia and hearing that music for the first time. So creepy yet relaxing.

First played it when it came on the virtual console. Had Metroid 2 as a kid and always wanted to try this one. Everyone always said it was best one and yeah it was pretty good.
