And are you still playing the game? What is your favorite stage and tune in the games? And what is or was your favorite part or conversion?
As for myself, i loved The Ultimate Doom and Doom II for the PC, but i also had a very soft spot for the Playstation version due to the lightning effects and minimalistic ambient soundtrack (except for the Club Doom track, which is a terror tune). The game was an enhanced port of the previously released Jaguar port.
I also had Final Doom for the Playstation, which i liked too.
Doom 64 was quite different, but nevertheless an atmospheric title in it's own right i think.
right here 90's Gamer, i miss these games. ultimate doom final doom and i had doom for the 32x

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
I have fond memories of playing Doom and Doom II at my friend's house, as he and his brothers each had a PC, and so they ran network cables between their bedrooms and we'd spend hours playing deathmatch. When I got a PlayStation, I immediately got Ultimate Doom: Thy Flesh Consumed but it wasn't quite the same.

Oh hells yeah. Doom II (mainly the PC version, but the current release on XBLA is picture-perfect) is probably my favorite FPS of all time, and definitely in my top 10 games overall. So many hours pumped into that, going back to the college dorm days, especially some long mind-F marathons sessions after some ... cough cough ... preparation.
Nice to read that people still like it. This game has aged more than well in my opinion. It still has that magic, that suspenseful touch. It can easily scare gamers today, since it was designed to do that in the first place, especially on the higher difficulty-levels.
I think I would rather go for Quake because of the mods and other games that ran on the quake engine like "Bid for Power" or "Star Trek Voyager Elite Force".
I have all the Dooms on Steam and I still have the cartridge of Doom 64. I play them for nostalgia's sake and it's cool to see how far FPSs have come since Doom. Love Doom but the controls and interface have aged horribly (excluding Doom 3).
For those who hasn't seen this yet...'A visit at id Software' from 1993! [youtube:Pek_JxmPonM] [youtube:mDdrg-z4cA8] [youtube:krESUsuQMto] Footage includes
-People at id playing the Genesis version of Aladdin. -A look at the office. -Romero playing Bram Stoker's Dracula for the PC. -A talk with the musical genius Bobby Prince. -Romero playing a beta version of DOOM that uses sounds from the Super NES version of Wolfenstein 3D, which was released earlier.
Also nice to notice that the tune 'Waiting for Romero to play' which was used in the 18th level in DOOM II, was originally intended to be implemented in E1M3 (First Episode, Map 3) . In turn, that piece of music was based on Pantera's 'This Love'. The song which was ultimately used for that map ('Dark Halls') was used for the previous stage as you can hear from the footage.
By the way, it's almost...the 20th anniversary of id Software
Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Blood, Quake, Unreal...all things I would love to see on Wiiware or a disc collection I was once in love with the FPS genre and no one has contributed more to it than id software.
Here's wishing for a disc collection of these games or wiiware downloadables!!!
