Why not, That what the Plan was for the Oracle Games. A three Part retelling of the first game with more emphais on the story. I want to see what would have been.

I like it for the humour and combat, story was good too but the wallet expansion collecting and triforce charts drain all of my enjoyment at point, collect rupees, pay tingle, get triforce shard, and repeat. ugh I'd actual put it up there with my favourite Zelda games but that completely ruins it, even if you use the tingle statutes for money.

It's not fair to compare Phantom Hourglass to Wind Waker. Yeah, it ruined all the best things that Wind Waker introduced (e.g. the art style and sailing), but I think that has more to do with what the DS is capable of. The DS should have gotten traditional sprite-based Zelda games instead.
Or not have it played like a 2D game. If Super Mario 64 DS and Metroid Prime Hunters could do it, so could Zelda.
The scope of both of those games are less than even OOT. Trying to fit in the traditional windwaker formula on the DS wouldn't have worked.
It doesn't have to be on par with what OoT could do, nor having TWW forumula.
I don't think Phantom Hourglass would be significantly better if it played like a 3D game. The main problem is that it's a sequel to Wind Waker. The Toon Link style looks awful on the DS (I have no doubt it would look even worse as a 3D game), and the Great Sea was reduced to a glorified minigame.
Phantom Hourglass is decent IMO, but that stuff really held it back. It's kind of sad to think that the last of the 2D Zelda games turned out like this.
Agreed, Minish Cap was waaaay better than Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks. Should've stuck to the sprites back then. 3DS can probably handle the style, though I'd much rather see a HD sequel on the Wii U.
Speaking of which, where are our sprite Zeldas? Here's hoping they bring one to one of the download services sooner or later.

Eh, I'd rather have it on 3DS. It's not that I don't want it in on the Wii U, but HD would do a lot more for Twilight Princess's art style.
For some reason, I feel like this is one of the few games that has become BETTER with time. I played it over the summer and it completely consumed me. Easily one of the best games ever made.
Best thread ever

I guess I'm one of the only people who did NOT like Minish Cap's art style. The artwork for the game depicted it as being in the vein of Wind Waker but the actual sprites were way different for the most part. I found Minish Cap's in-game art style to be over saturated in color to the point of blurring the sprites and making the game as a whole look a bit sloppy.
I too have been doing a Zelda marathon this year haha (currently on Twilight princess)
as for Wind waker... While I like the graphics and the story (and various new items like the skull hammer!) I just find the game very tedious compared to the other titles in the franchise (well, except for the nightmare that is Phantom hourglass). So I tend to replay it the least, maybe once every year and a half. The sailing feels like it drags on forever (endless blue water...) getting the Triforce charts, then turning around and getting the Triforce pieces (would have been better to include a piece hidden within each temple or something along that line) So yeah, not really my cup of tea.
Hell, yeah! This is one of my favourites. The trips between the islands could've been a bit shorter if you ask me, but the sailing itself was fun and engaging. Few Zelda games, if any, capture the feel of being on an epic quest as well as Wind Waker does. The wide open sea is begging you to explore its vast expanses.
And, god, what a great musical theme Dragon Roost Island has!
I've finished it, twice actually (most recently about a year and a half ago), but I've never gone back to get all the sculptures made. Keep thinking I'll go back and do that one of these days.
Let's attack aggressively, kupo! :D
