I've been doing a Zelda marathon all month and now I'm up to Wind waker. Still pretty fun aside from the loooooong sailing trips. The art style they chose never bothered me one bit. I thought Link's cat eyed stubby legged look was adorable and had alot of charm.

If the difficulty was just a little higher, and the sailing didn't take so freakin' long, this'd probably be my favorite Zelda of all time.
I think what bothered me the most about the game though, was the fact that all islands that weren't on the map from the start ( aside from Dragonroost, even though the Fish puts it on automatically ), don't have a single bit of music for them. I dunno about you, but the wind, waves, and sounds of Kagarocs crowing kind of makes me yawn.
It's a shame that the Toon Style got banished to an underpowered handheld that couldn't do it justice. Here's hoping the first original Zelda for 3DS has a nice beautiful Toon style.
I don't always give myself signatures, but when I do, you just read it.

After OOT we may be getting a Zelda Closer to that. Also if I recall the only reason they used the Toon style on DS as the system wasn't up to par to do the realistic art style well.
We'll maybe see Skyward Sword art style on 3DS and Twilight Princess on Wii U.
top 5 in the series.

Every now and then I replay the many Zelda titles in order; the last time I played Wind Waker was probably just over a year ago. While it isn't my favourite in the series (the sailing is great but it drags for too long, plus there aren't enough dungeons for my liking), I honestly believe it is one of the best looking games of all time - Even better than many Xbox 360/PS3 titles. Graphically the whole game still holds up amazingly.

Been going through all 3D Zeldas too...was playing Wind Waker, but Kirby came out...so, I've been playing that. xD But yeah, plan on finishing WW and TP before Skyward Sword hits.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
It is in my "friend's" possession from another country. She doesn't have a GC memory card to want to play it and she's been too lazy to send it back. Goddammit do I want to play that game again.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
My favourite Zelda (and probably over-all video game) despite the number of dungeons, slow start, low difficulty level and slightly long sailing sessions (if only there were just a handful of things more to do while sailing).
Easily the best art style, the best Link, the best Zelda, the best final boss battle, the best boss designs, the best storytelling and the best sense of freedom of any Zelda game.
I've finished the game a handful of times but I've yet to 100% it, so I'll do that next time. Here's hoping for a true sequel someday; I'd love to use the Wii U controller as sailing map in a HD Wind Waker 2.
I'm not playing it right now, but I did love that game, actually. Too bad it got that sucky sequel. And, as already said, the sailing is just tedious and way too lengthy.

It's not fair to compare Phantom Hourglass to Wind Waker. Yeah, it ruined all the best things that Wind Waker introduced (e.g. the art style and sailing), but I think that has more to do with what the DS is capable of. The DS should have gotten traditional sprite-based Zelda games instead.
I still play Wind Waker. Usually once a year or so I'll play back through it again. I think it's probably my favorite Zelda, which is funny because when it was announced way back then, I was one of the people who HATED the way it looked.

Or not have it played like a 2D game. If Super Mario 64 DS and Metroid Prime Hunters could do it, so could Zelda.

The scope of both of those games are less than even OOT. Trying to fit in the traditional windwaker formula on the DS wouldn't have worked.
Hopefully the next 3DS game is more like Link's awakening. (or 3D remake's of zelda 1 and 2)
