Hi, recently I bought 5 NES games and they were extremely dirty (I think they were covered in cigarette smoke) and they were being very unreliable so I tried a few things and the best way I found to get all of that black crap off the pins was a Mr.Clean Magic Eraser, So what I did is I opened the cartridge with a gamebit screw, soaked a corner of the sponge in rubbing alcohol and scrubbed the pins, the pins are now very shiny and clean and they all work great! (please note not to scrub too hard because you could damage the pins) lastly, if this doesn't help you may want to boil your 72 pin connector.
