I love how everyone is answering his question 2 years after he posted it. I don't think he even frequents the forums anymore

One person bumped it, and nobody else checked the date.

You can always report it and a mod can lock it if it bothers you that much. When I post a reply I only check the date of the last post hence why I missed it being bumped.

Play N' Trade usually has great retro games like Chrono Trigger and Earthbound.

It can vary wildly as I hear stores are individually owned and operated.
The one near me had almost nothing but sports games for SNES.

Exactly, the Play N' Trade near my house has a lot of retro games, but the only good one is F-zero X. The rest are just sports games and Shaq fu for the SNES.

When my area had a Play 'N' Trade, it started out with a wonderful selection, but then everyone bought all the good games and sold them the lame ones. By the time they went out of business they had nothing worthwhile that wasn't super expensive.

Not gamestop, that's for sure. Pokémon Emerald is priced $40 used- wtf?

I got nothing but seeing these locations brought up- I'll look into them. Amazon and Ebay is also a good place to look. And there's a website that sell SNES and Genesis built in one consoles with games. Pretty sweet.

I would reccommend that people hit up their local swap meets, garage sales and flea markets. Yeah, you dont always know what youre getting, but in my experience most of the stuff ive bought has been in good working order. Plus, swap meet prices are a hell of a lot more affodabe and negotiable than stores. Lastly, you really can find some hidden gems if youre willing to look for it

In Toronto, there is a store called A&C games that only sells retro games. They've got a virtual boy, ROB, light guns from all systems and tons of games from pretty much every system that we consider retro.

But aside from that, I get my stuff from garage sales or hock shops. Use craigslist.org to see if there is a garage sale in your area. Craigslist is also a really good way to pick stuff up. Just put in your location and search away.

Thaaaaaanks for noticin' me.

There's a whole bunch of stores around me which carry old games. All these stores are in the chicagoland area.

1. Disc Replay - As you can guess, this store is pretty much like a flea market, but particularly for CD's, DVD's, & games. However, they also have a good selection of NES, Megadrive, Super NES, & N64 games. The same can't be said for PSX or Dreamcast games however. I mainly get my retro games from here.

2. Cybknight - Doesn't have a very good selection of retro games except for maybe N64 games. The store's scratch removal services somewhat make up for it though. I go here for N64 games & to get my old disc games fixed.

3. Video Games etc. - This store is fairly closer to Chicago than any of the others that I listed so it's a pretty long trip for those not living in the city. However, the selection of games is wicked sick. Everything from the Magnavox Odyssey to SMS to even Neo Geo. You can find games for almost any system in this store. I go here to find rarer stuff.

Those are the only 3 stores that I've been to that have retro games. The Chicagoland area has a good selection of stores carrying old games. I also use Amazon of course.
