Yup, I got one from ebay, and it wasn't too expensive either!

again, please link your YouTube videos and/or channel in your signature, thanks. if you have any questions, feel free to contact us — TBD

I got myself 3 games with it, Blazing Lasers, which was the pack-in game, PacLand, and Galaga '90. I'm going to see if I can get hold of other games for it. Especially Devil's Crush since I love that game! As I mention in the video, I never knew what a TurboGrafx was until the Nintendo announced the Wii Virtual Console, I only knew about it's Japanese name, the PC Engine. So picking this up and opening it was kinda like XMas again for me, lol.

PS. is there a way to embed outube videos on this forum?

Type in [ youtube: , everything that comes after v=, and then close it with ].

Anyways nice buy. The three games you got are pretty good too. My personal favorite of the three is Blazing Lazers.

@cheetahman91 Is that a clue to the quiz...?

No it's not. I was just saying that it was my favorite of the three, has nothing to do with that other thread.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

Thanks for the Embed command. Anyway my favourite out of the three games I got has to be Galaga '90, I'm not knocking Blazing Lasers, but it's very easy and very bland IMO. I was able to max out main weapon, with homing missiles by the end of the first level, wee bit silly, lol.

Anyway, I'm now on the hunt for other TG games, shame they cost as much as the console, urgh... lol.

Wow, great buy! Galaga '90 is a really good game, totally worth it just for that alone. To be honest I've never heard of Pacland, going to have to google that now...

Currently Playing:
Zelda II: Adventure of Link

It's the PacMan platformer that's loosely based on the PacMan cartoon that Hanna Barbara did in the early 80s.
There were 2 versions of the game made, the Western, and the Japanese version. The Western version played just like a typical platformer, left and right on the joystick, and a jump button. The Japanese version had a weird set up where by you had two run buttons, one for left, one for right, and then a single direction joystick to jump. The TG16 version allows you to switch between these with the select button.

Yeah the first few stages are a breeze, especially if you've maxxed out Field Thunder. But don't worry, the later stages get harder. I still haven't gotten past the last stage yet.

Wasn't Pac-Land the first side-scroller platformer ever (aside from maybe Dragon Buster), though? I know it's even older than the original Super Mario Bros.

According to Wikipedia, the platformer was a game called Space Panic by Broderbund (of Prince of Persia fame) and Aruze (A Japanese-American Pachinko and slot machine manufacturer). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Panic

I do believe it was because before that platformers were either single screen (Donkey Kong) or multi-screen but with no scrolling (Pitfall).

With some searching around, I discovered that Jump Bug was the first game to use horizontal scrolling. And Crazy Climber was the first game to use Vertical Scrolling.

Ok, Today I got myself a copy of Dragon Spirit, the amazing thing was that the seller said it was opened and used, but it was SEALED! Love it!

Bare in mind that yes I opened it! It's no fun having it stuck in cellophane wrapping! lol

I had the TurboGrafx 16 way back in August 1989. Then it cost $299.99 for the system, 1 controller and the pack in game of Keith Courage in Alpha Zones. So hopefully you paid less then that on EBay.

That System did have some great games for it during its short lifespan 1989-1993. Dragon Spirit, Blazing lazers, Galaga 90, Dungeon Explorer, Legendary Axe, Alien Crush, R-type, Military Madness, and Bonks Adventures are some fun games.
Even though NEC system lost to Sega and Nintendo it had moments of greatness.
