Which style of games do you prefer? 2D games with pixel graphics, or 3D games with polygonal graphics?

I like 2D pixel graphics, my brother prefers 3D cinematic games.

i like both. i've got more used to 3D more over the years, especially as the graphics have improved for games.

i love fighting games and when i was young i preferred 2D street fighter and king of fighters over 3D tekken, soulcalibur and virtua fighter. now i prefer 3D fighting games more than i did over 2D.

I like both 2D and 3D games. Not really into cinematic and ultra-realistic games though.

I prefer 2D pixel games. I would rather play the games for my NES and SNES than my Wii or PS3. The Wii and PS3 are certainly convenient for quick gaming sessions with the frequent save points but if I have enough time I am most likely busiting out the 8 or 16-bits of pure pixel perfection!

Both, but I prefer 3D Games. Probably because I was never around to experience the original 2D classics and such, but I like to play the old Zelda's on my 3DS. (Thanks to the ambassador program!)

I like both, but it depends on how they do the art style and the graphics. For example, I love Skyward Sword's 3D cinematic art style and I also love Metroid Fusions 2D art style. They both look really nice, but it depends on how the developer makes them look, they can either look really nice, or really disgusting...

Not a fan of realistic looking graphics, I want something that can put me into a different world, not a game that looks exactly like the world outside my door.

I prefer most everything in polygons these days, but as for the actual gameplay, it depends on the genre. For example, I prefer 2D platformers but 3D fighters. Then to screw it up even further, I prefer isometric beat-'em-ups.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Both. If I alternate between my 2D and 3D games about evenly.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I usually prefer 2D, though with the newer HD graphics they're almost pretty enough for me

Any games behind current gen, and I'd say 2D.

I prefer 3D games to 2D, but specifically speaking, I tend to prefer 2D pixeled games to 3D cinematic games.

Ultimately 2D...although most of my all-time favorite games are 3D ones. One of the developers which made me hold onto the opinion was SNK.

2D cinematic games ... 3D pixel graphics ... I can't decide!

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

You must really like "3D Pixel Racing."

2D all the way.

Plain old gamer :)

I like the way 2D looks better, good old nostalgia for the old days... even though my first game system was a Playstation 2, i'm a little backwards .
But for gameplay it depends on the game, if it's a racer i'm better off 3D, but for games like Sonic 2D all the way (never played the newer, less bad 3D Sonics).
To ad more comfuzzlement, I like the gameplay of the 2D Zelda's better, but on average like the 3D Zelda's better. Are you comfuzzled yet?

Chrono_Cross

I'd have to say 2-D. And just because they aren't 3-D doesn't mean they can't bring a cinematic adventure. Super. Metroid.

Just for you.

When I say "cinematic games" I mean the ones that try to be like interactive movies (with lots of cutscenes and dialogue interrupting the gameplay).

Well, my reality consists of at least 3 dimensions, and I play games to escape from reality, so...

But then again, 2D games kinda suck aswell. Why would I want to play games in less dimensions? That seems like such a downgrade.
I guess I won't be happy until they start making 4D games...

.... or something like that.
