Hey everyone I would like to know what is your opinion on backwards capability in the game industry? For me in my opinion its great to play your games in backwards capability like example the 3ds and the wii u you can still play your ds games on the 3ds and you can still play your wii games on the wii u.

BC is a major selling point for me. Almost all value in a console is in its software library. Especially early in a generation, having access to the previous one makes taking the plunge so much easier.
Not really fussy about it. If a system have it that's cool, but since I have the past system(s) I just play the game on it. No reason to discard the old for the new while playing what's old on the new. Especially with the money spend buying it in the first place (accessories included).
A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

Well to me it is really useful, to give an example I have never had a GCN but I do have a Wii which can play things like smash bros. melee. (oh yeah and other games too but, ya know.)

It's great. I hate having loads of devices near my TV, especially if they're not even plugged in.
B/C is fantastic since it means I can remove a whole system and still enjoy the software. It sucks that we're moving away from such a great feature, feels like a step backwards.

of course BC is great and it sucks that PS4 and Xbone don't have it but if they choice was between jumping to X86 which developers wanted or staying with Power PC for B/C sake, they make the right call on making the jump.... If Nintendo choose to stay with Power PC because of BC, it was a big mistake
Backwards Compatibility is not really an issue for me most of the time.
If the Vita had full backwards comparability I would already have one because I don't have a PSP and there is loads of stuff I want on it. (double the resolution is the right way to do that). Problem is the content I want is a mix of UMD only / UMD only Japan only / US or Japan PSN only / Japan PSN only.
I don't like the 3DS backwards compatibility (To the extent I recently bought a brand new DSi XL and I actually don't mind playing DS games on it). Some games like Metal Slug 7 are actually broken when not played on a DS. (It works but feels like a bad emulation vs a proper Metal Slug game). I don't like the fuzziness that happens due to the bad resolution choices.

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.

You know you can hold select when starting a DS game and it'll boot in 1:1 pixel mode, right? On the XL the image size and quality looks almost identical to how it looks on my Lite
Backwards compatibility is a huge feature for me. I generally never trade in old games, so being able to go back and play my previous library without the need to keep the old system around is great.
BC is good because it allows people to play a previous gen of consoles (home or handheld), on their current gen hardware. It can be a huge selling point to those people who didn't own a Wii to play those games on their Wii U. Sony dropped the ball on that needless to say, totally would of bought a Vita if I could buy physical PSP games play them on it (don't have a PSP). Same with the PS4, still wouldn't buy Xbone (not a fan of Xbox products), but I can it being a selling point to those that would. PS Now is a terrible solution imo to BC, would rather own the game than having to deal with buffering droping connection.
I would have gotten a Vita and PS4 if they had backwards compatibility. Now, I will wait until they each get a Kingdom Hearts game (If the Vita doesn't get one, then that's too bad for the Vita). I like that freedom of choice. I hate how people try to slam Nintendo for not offering choices, then disregard things like BC. Seriously, any smart person can understand that a device that can play two generations worth of games is MUCH better than a glorified one generation console that can also play Bluray, DVD, and MP3. That's one of the reasons why I can't see the appeal of having a PS4 (or XB1) this early in its life (or having a Vita at all). Also, you know you're being shafted when a company won't let you play your older digital games, but wants you to pay a fee for the privilege of playing that same game through PS Now on their servers... on top of a PS Plus fee for online play...
Honestly, I felt this generation should have included backwards compatibility for all our games, and our digital stuff. In an age where "progress" mostly comes from finding new ways to charge us money, a little give with the take would have been nice.
