Simple concept, come up with a game idea that you would love to play and pick out your perfect creative staff for the project. To get this going:

Game: A large scale steampunk/magitech JRPG (preferably Wii U because I already own one, but it would be a system seller for me on any platform)

Producer: Hironobu Sakaguchi (early Final Fantasy games, Lost Odyssey, The Last Story)
Director: Tetsuya Takahashi (early Final Fantasy games, Xenogears, Xenosaga, Xenoblade)
Scenario writers and designers: Yasumi Matsuno and Hiroshi Minagawa (Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy XII)
Art director: Akihiko Yoshida (Final Fantasy XIV, also see above)
Music: Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenosaga) and Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Radiant Historia)

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

My dream project would probably take 200+ people to make in the current industry standards and I don't think I could name that many people in the industry. I would definitely want to work directly with Miyamoto and have arguments with him about design directions we should take. Arguments would have to happen to file down the rough ideas and make it work.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

A genre that up to now doesn't exist.

Made by Yuji Naka / Masahiro Sakurai (Director or Producer depends on which is the best for the game they want to make).

I dunno why anyone would ever dream of something specific because for me the best is when it is unexpected and new.

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.

At this point, my dream project would be a sequel to Donkey Kong 64 with modern design sensibilities, but set on Crocodile Isle - not the machine-island-thingy used by K. Rool as a ship in DK64, but the actual Crocodile Isle from DKC2, complete with bramble-infested areas, beehives, haunted forests and the Krazy Kremland. I'd want it to have a massive hub world, along with separate, open-world, self-contained (but also massive) stages.

I don't really know exactly who I'd want to be involved... preferrably 90's Rare personnel like the guys now at Playtonic. Soundtrack would be 100% David Wise, though.

...or a 3D Mother 4 using models like the Ness and Lucas from Smash U. I'd take that as well. Story by Shigesato Itoi, obviously, with as many people who worked on Earthbound involved.

I would love to see Rockstar come out with a game set in Meiji Era Japan (same era as the Last Samurai) where you play as a Ronin trying to make a living in a new era where Samurai don't belong, straddling the line between tradition & the future. Sort of like a Japanese Red Dead Redemption (could even be a spinoff).

Known for their large and diverse worlds, you'd start out in the eastern part of the map that's inspired by both Tokyo & Kyoto (the modern and classical capitols of the country), which would have a section dedicated to the modernizing nature of the country (also featuring a foreigner's quarters, this would be the part inspired by Tokyo), and a section dedicated to it's ancient traditions (the area inspired by Kyoto). That would be the largest part of the map, but to the west there would be rural mountainous terrain, to the north wintery terrain (inspired by Hokkaido), and to the south a very tropical setting (inspired by Okinawa).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

This sounds like the eavesdropping segments of Assassin's Creed, which generally see a lot of criticism for being boring.
