Woot! Looking forward to their E3!

I'm a little disappointed at the XBox store digital sales. When they have something good they're cheaper than PSN. But PSN ALWAYS has pages and pages of good games and decent to good prices, weekly. XBox has a full page of Farm Simulator DLC, plus a few decent games, mostly from EA. Meanwhile PSN has Witcher III for $20, and a ton of other stuff. grumble

@ThanosReXXX Honestly I'm not sure I'd disagree with him much extolling the virtues of wholesome entertainment for kids. I may be easy going overall but I think the "kids are just little adults" mentality of the modern age isn't so good either Granted, I haven't the foggiest clue what to do with kids in general....but part of it is because they're little paramilitary specialists in training in 2018. I grew up with Mario and PacMan darnit!

Digital keys stores: Yeah, used it for the Gold sub, and actually grabbed a few other things. Cdkeys seems ok (though even they, if they flag you, get to that whole ID scan thing...shudder) Some of the others are just marketplaces though, not selling their own keys but sort of an ebay of digital keys. So....buyer beware. (All are pretty sketchy on how they source things....but at least cdkeys is buying in volume somewhere. The ebay-ish sellers of some of those others are just random dudes who "acquired" keys...some of which from boxed cards/versions..... And at one point, Ubi did shut down all keys associated with the two of them G2A and Kinguin, not sure if they were in your list) as they were bought with stolen CCs (from EA Origin, no less... )

Paypal users were the ones reporting the ID issues. And they had prior purchased as well. It looks like if you somehow get "flagged" by however, you end up needing to verify. Amazon "flagged" me somehow the other week, so even the most legit legit stores can flag people for no reason. Who knows how.

The sites themselves are mostly not sketchy. But for some of them, how they acquire keys is sketchy. Not always illegal, but not always not in volation of EULA. Some are obvious, like I bought Halo Wars 2 Ultimate.....well it's a dated pre-launch version, one of the perks was early access, so that's how they got the codes, retail doesn't want those outdated printed digital code cards anymore with a printed date on them. Others....especially pre-orders are sketchy. I love cdkeys though. Half their stuff is 40% OVER MSRP, with a few things well below and some slighty below. So you know they're doing something kinda currency-conversion related.....that seems fair. Business can buy labor in some impoverished cesspool for $1 an hour and no benefits, but consumers cant utilize the "global economy" to buy said products for the world's lowest going rate? And it's enforced? Nuh uh. That's not a free market, that's a planned economy at best, a slave economy at worst.

@Octane No, not wondering about the announcement itself, but after having searched through all my Xbox-related emails, I most certainly AM wondering why this is the first time they're sending actual Xbox members an email about it.

And there's also nothing in this email other than what I quoted, that could possibly indicate that it is perhaps a reminder mail instead of a first announcement, so that annoys me to no end, because now I look kinda dumb for bringing "old" news, instead of me having done something nice for my fellow human beings, which kinda is my thing, normally speaking...

@ThanosReXXX lol, I figured since you're always on this site, I assumed as an Xbox fan you would frequent and Xbox centric site as welk for news and forum talk etc. I mean I visit Xbox sites daily and I don't even have one 😂

@NEStalgia Last note about our friend, and then I'm done with that: I think you misunderstood me. I'm in complete agreement with you, if you say that we should let kids play appropriate games, but that is just common sense, and what he's professing, borders on extremism, and that is something that no kid should be exposed to, no matter how genuinely well-meant the idea might be in someone's head. If it were up to him, even adults would still be playing only Teen Rated games...
It's far too restrictive, invasive and anti-democratic for my taste.

And there are more than enough non-kiddy and girly games that are still child-friendly or mild enough to be played by children. But like I said: enough of this, on with the actual on-topic stuff...

As for the Xbox Live Gold membership sites: well, I always keep tabs on all of them, and yes, a number of those links are search engines/price comparing sites, but the actual sites they link to, are similar to cdkeys. In fact, that site is mentioned on practically all of those price comparison sites.

The reason I linked to all of them, is because prices vary wildly during the years, so it isn't smart to stick with just with one site alone. I simply always go for the best/lowest priced offer, regardless of where it comes from. I couldn't care less about how they got their grubby little mitts on them...

@redd214 No, I'm not that website "visitey"...
I only visit two Nintendo-related websites daily, and check my email, and that's about it, in general. Or I go to some page for some reason or other every now and then, due to news, movies, music, whatever. But no fixed visits to anything Xbox-related, other than the aforementioned Games with Gold page.
After all: gotta keep tabs on what freebies are coming in the weeks ahead...

But regardless of all that: I still find it pretty darn stupid that as a registered Xbox owner, news apparently drops in the old inbox several weeks after the announcement was already in the news, and I get about two to three emails a month from them, so it isn't as if they didn't have ample time to inform me of it...

And I can do all my Xbox-related forum talk over here, and with my real-life, also Xbox loving friends, so I don't need to go to one of those shouty, dudebro Xbox forums. I may own the console, but I'm not particularly fond of the audience at large, so I only game with friends.

And my visits to any website are also motivated by the same sentiments, which is in large part the reason why I'm still on this site. The experience has become a little less enjoyable over the years, but compared to some other sites I've been on, this is still an oasis of decency and tranquility, so I guess I'll stick around for the time being...

@ThanosReXXX that's cool my friend. There are some calmer xbox websites out there and even just general all encompassing gaming websites that don't have the typical toxicity.

Anyways, what major Xbox announcement would you be the most excited for at e3?

redd214

NEStalgia

@redd214 PureXBox closed down......not enough readers.... Could talk XBox on Push Square? Do you like being beaten to death with your own limbs?

@ThanosRexxx heck they didn't even send me that news at all so you're lucky! LOL, though, funny that even you have the overall audience pinpointed Duuuuuude....

LOL, yeah, I figured you didn't care where the merch came from I don't care so long as it's market manipulation.....I'm not cool with stolen merch or stolen CC's used to launder the merch though. And no way to know. For now I trust cdkeys. Seems they buy mostly closeout keys and such. I'd have to roll the dice a bit for the others though!

redd214

@NEStalgia this may be shocking to you guys but..... There's a big wide web out there full of millions of websites outside of this little network of 10 or so. Some of them are great, some not so much. I encourage you to explore lol😂

ThanosReXXX

@redd214 Well, most excited for on Xbox would probably be the game that I don't know I'm excited for yet, aka a hopefully completely awesome surprise that I don't know about yet. The talk around (virtual Xbox) town is that Microsoft is going to completely hit it out of the park this year, so that's what I'm most excited for, the event in general, also where it concerns Nintendo, obviously.

But I couldn't name any single Xbox title that I'm REALLY excited for. Don't get me wrong: I'm looking forward to actual gameplay footage of first party title Crackdown 3, any new stuff concerning Forza titles, and gameplay footage of third party efforts like Anthem, Skull and Bones, a new Mortal Kombat game, and CD Projekt Red is supposedly going to show their new game, called Cyberpunk 2077, but excited is (in my opinion) a considerable step higher, and perhaps it's my age, or being kinda disappointed about certain stuff not showing up over several years of E3, but I've become a bit more cautious.

Hoping to get a bit more revved by some possible new Fable footage, though. And don't even get me started on how I would feel about some Metroid Prime 4 footage...

Perhaps I'm actually getting excited for E3 after all...

can somebody tell me if there is a difference in backwards compatibility between the different xbox one versions? i don't care about 4k. just 1080p for original xbox and xbox360 games.

is the standart xbox one model enough for all backwards compatibility features?

Ryzen 5 2600
2x8GB DDR4 RAM 3000mhz
GTX 1060 6GB

ThanosReXXX

@6ch6ris6 If by standard, you mean the Xbox One S, then yes. The only difference is that the upscaling is a little less than on the flagship model, the Xbox One X. However, regardless of 4K, you might also want to take into account that the X has more benefits than just that: better CPU, more memory, games still look better, even on a non-4K/UHD TV, and eventually, we'll all have 4K/UHD TV's anyway, because you won't be seeing a new Full HD TV anywhere anymore in a year or two, so once your current TV decides to break down, your replacement TV will all but certainly be a 4K screen, so when that happens, your console is already able to take full advantage of that.

So, in short: although you won't be able to take advantage of ALL the benefits straight away, if you can get a good deal on an X, I would still advise you to go with that. But if the price difference is too big for you, then the S will do just fine as well.

@ThanosReXXX what about the standart xbox one model? not s or x? i would to get a cheap one used. i would mostly use it for backwards compatibility and not used games

@6ch6ris6 The original model isn't handling more recent system updates that well, I'd strongly recommend the S model if you're wanting a cheaper option.

@DarthNocturnal For me it takes a few days for the console not be sluggish after an update and it's been like this since the January update.

@6ch6ris6 I'd go for the S, in that case then. You can get great deals on that now, such as bundles. The S is smaller than the original Xbox One, and it's a bit better performance-wise. And it has a better media drive as well.

@6ch6ris6 Here. have a look at these, then:

https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/OffersOfProduct/5048098_...
https://www.rebuy.de/kaufen/konsolen-und-zubehoer-xbox-one
https://www.saturn.de/de/category/_xbox-one-konsolen-457565.html

And if I were you, I would still consider a bundle. You could always sell the games that come with them again if you don't like them, but in general, the consoles are cheaper when bought in a bundle.

And one more tip: better go for the 1TB model. Even with original Xbox and Xbox 360 games, you'd have to install them all on the console to be able to play them, so the 500GB model would probably be completely filled with games in no time...
