Topic: XBLA/PSN Games Thread

I know there's a Playstation 3/Xbox 360 thread but they seem to focus more on the retail side of games.

I wanted to make a thread where we can talk about the latest Downloadable games on both services, unique to each other as well as shared content they provide.

From what I understand, OutRun on the EU PSN store is gone whilst the XBLA version remains.

As for other releases, I enjoyed Hydrophobia and bought SOnic 4:ep 1 despite the critisism from the SEGA site and possibly everywhere else.

Anyone have any recommendations from any service?

Main Final Fantasy & Quest/Shinobi Team fan...but I do like many SEGA games and a few Nintendo games.

I can be cute if I want to be, but I choose not to...as it's not my style.

I like Outrun. I also like Trine, Super Stardust, Shatter and Flower.

XBLA is the reason I purchased the Xbox 360, and I definitely don't regret it. No matter how much it breaks, no matter how much the accessories break, no matter how few original Xbox games actually work on it, no matter how much the Wireless adapter costs...XBLA still makes it worth it. Seriously. Some of the highlights:

Platformers:

  • N+
  • Bionic Commando: Rearmed
  • Banjo-Tooie
  • 'Splosion Man
  • Sonic 4
  • Mega Man 9
  • Braid

Shooter:

  • Ikaruga
  • Doom II
  • Metal Slug XX
  • Perfect Dark
  • R-Type Dimensions
  • ReZ HD
  • Raystorm HD
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • Space Invaders Extreme
  • Upcoming games: Radient Silvergun, Guwange, Hard Corps Uprising, Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury

Fighting games:

  • Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2
  • The King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match
  • Garou: Mark of the Wolves (Best Fighting Game ever, IMO)
  • Neo Geo Battle Collusium
  • Samurai Shodown II
  • Soul Caliber

Adventure Games:

  • Shadow Complex
  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
  • Secret of Monkey Island
  • Penny Arcade Adventures
  • Sam & Max Season 1/Season 2

Beat 'em ups:

  • Castle Crashers
  • Streets of Rage 2
  • Final Fight: Double Impact
  • Comix Zone
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • That new came everyone's talking about
  • TMNT 1989 (so long as you have some friends to play it with)

Racing Games:

  • Hydro Thunder Hurricane
  • Outrun Online Arcade

Puzzle Games:

  • Astropop
  • Bejeweled 2
  • Chime
  • Mr. Driller Online
  • Peggle
  • Portal: Still Alive
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix

Other:

  • Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment
  • Cyber Troopers Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram
  • Switchball
  • Schizoid
  • Crystal Defenders
  • Geometry Wars 1 and 2

I'll expand on a few that I think are the best cuz I can later. This alone took me 4 hours to write, so...yeah.

I don't really have any PSN games yet(just a PS1 classic), but I want to get flower, since pretty much everyone said it's an amazing game, and I enjoyed the demo.

@Mickeymac: that new game that everyone is talking about doesn't happen to be Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World does it?

A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.

Scott Pilgrim is the best game I've downloaded.*

Super Meat Boy - Hard as f**king hell and every bit as much fun. I'm fighting the last boss of the game now and I bet I've died 200 times so far. LOL Hits the XBLA next Wednesday. Get it!

@Ravage: Psychonauts is downloadable for Games on Demand, so sorta.

Wait is that what they call it for original xbox games? Dunno.

Oh yeah, I suppose it did come out on Xbox... I have the PC version and just remembered seeing it on my 360 somewhere. XBLA or not, still an awesome game.

How much is it going to cost Corbie? And do you know when it comes out on WiiWare?

Has anyone here ever played Super Stardust HD on the PSN? I heard it's really good but I'm not sure if I want it.

It's fun. It's kinda like Geometry Wars except closer to Asteroids. I dunno if it's worth it if you have access to GeoWars, but if you don't, or if you just want a Geo Wars game with different game modes, I'd say it's worth a shot.

The lack of Fat Princess in this thread disturbs me.
Marvel VS Capcom 2 is also really fun, but I'd really only suggest it if you have the right friends to play with. Yeah it has online play, but all you ever find are a bunch of people who spam the same characters over and over again (or at least that's been my luck with the game)

It is far better with friends. However...all I ever encountered online were experts who really knew the game, rather that cheapos who rely too heavily on a single strategy. I actually learned something from playing online.

It will cost 1200 Points on XBLA and all we know about the WiiWare version is that they're working on it and it's due to hit this year. Maybe November would be a nice time for it to come to WiiWare.
