Have you played them? Aside from the cutscenes, they don't look like the worst game ever. Then again, they don't look particularly good, either. Too bad it's so hard to find the games (or a CD-i). I'd love to give them a try just to say I did.
I have no idea what the worst game ever is. Niki Rock N Ball? Maybe.
@Adam - I never played them but I saw a video about them on AngryVideoGameNerd and the guy REALLY didn't like them. Oh! The worst game ever would have to be Super Man 64 now that was a bad game.
His name is the Angry Video Game Nerd, of course he didn't like them! I read a surprisingly positive review of it once at a site whose opinion I respected, though I can't remember where now. The game play looks like a standard side-scrolling action game like Zelda 2 or Castlevania except with much more fluid animation.
@Adam - I dunno the AngryVideoGameNerd was throwing F bombs all over the place when he was playing it and the game looked REALLY annoying when he was playing it too.
ET seems to be regarded as the worst game in many worst game lists, but I haven't played that game myself, the worst game I ever played would have to be Men in Black on PSone, I remember it being hyped as a Resident Evil clone, what a lot of nonsense that turned out to be, the controls where terrible and the characters looked exactly the same, just their heads where different, and it was Will and some female character used but they used the same body models, that was just plain weird, I swapped that game pretty quick, most movie licensed games are complete garbage with the odd exception like Golden Eye, but MIB was one of those games that you can't describe just how bad it was, you really have to have played it otherwise you just wouldn't believe it, it really is that bad.
i'd have to go with the '89 TMNT game for the NES. i remember my brother and I played the hell out of that game, no guides, no nothin', and we could never get past that stupid turtle-van section of the game where you had to find the missiles and then the ropes to get across the buildings and stuff. i've never seen the ending of that game.
on a related note, that was the first AVGN episode i ever saw, and i would say he was freaking spot-on.
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3

[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
NES Turtles was probably the most difficult game I ever played, I mean challenge is ok, but I felt they never gave you a fair chance with that game, far too frustrating, AVGN did do a great video of it though I agree with that.
The AVGN is an overrated fool whose fanboys are obviously (for the most part) mentally handicapped. Have you seen how many "Copy and paste this if you're here because of AVGN!" comments they've posted on Youtube? It's $#&%ing creepy.
Aaaaaaanyways, I don't think there is a worst game ever, just some really noteworthy bad games.
ET seems to be regarded as the worst game in many worst game lists
A lot of people didn't play 2600 games that came out after the crash though.
E.T isn't the worse video game ever. There are worse 2600 games out there like Karate. Karate is considered worse than than E.T. is. People that played both games even said that or if you compare the rating to the two games. This is shared at Atari 2600 Communities like Atariage.
I haven't played the E.T. over 20 or 21 years. I never played Karate yet.
E.T got the reputation because it got blamed for the video game crash Karate doesn't get mentioned much because it was released in 1987 for the Atari 2600.
Most worst games lists I have seen seem to put ET on top of those lists, but I do wonder if all those people making those lists actually played ET or not, and maybe as you say its reputation has more to do with it being on those lists than anything, I can't really comment on the game myself though since I never played it, the first console I got was the Master System 2, so I missed out on all those earlier games.
Another game I would mention on the Master System this time would be Tom & Jerry, that was another terrible game, and probably one of he worst platform games I ever played.
Haha! I tried to sit down and give it a chance, if only to bring back memories of our trip to the awesome real-life Universal Studios. Nio such luck, it was really poor.
