I'll buy me soon a PS4 because of some exclusives; since I never had a PS3 I can also enjoy for the first time some of this remastered gems I missed.

Praise the Sun, and Mario too.

Sony even mocked this in there 2013 E3 conference with a video of how to share PS4 games.

That video is still the sickest burn I've ever seen from a big company like Sony. They made some really underhanded comments at that E3, but the effect was absolutely devastating.

I think Xbox One, like the PS3, will be a late bloomer in terms of its appeal. Unless Sony massively screws up somehow, they have effectively dominated this console gen.

  • Better late gen support for PS3

In the final years of PS3 and Xbox 360, Sony's support for the PS3 was fantastic and generated a lot of goodwill. There were a plethora of $20 collections, great for people who had not yet jumped into the ecosystem (especially those who were 360-only players for most of the generation), fantastic exclusives like The Last of Us, not to mention virtually all of the Japanese 3rd party support. Xbox, on the other hand, hired Don Mattrick and prioritized Kinect. It was financially successful, but alienated gamers.

It's kind of amazing in hindsight why The Last of Us wasn't a PS4 launch title. I mean, it only launched 5 months prior. I wonder what would've changed if Naughty Dog had been told by Sony to develop that game for the next system.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

1. Because the Japanese game people are going to go with Playstation no matter how poor the console.
2. 720 had and still have issues with censoring as well as it just being another cable box with videogame built in.
3. 360 had too many issues from the HD-DVD add-on being dropped to having to deal with loss of quality.
4. Microsoft attacked devers for attempting to make games for the original X-box. It is like if SEGA attacked people for making games on the Dreamcast.
5. X-box was buggy, the 360 was buggy, the X-bone is bugdom.
6. Most best sellers or hits on X-bone will probably have better PC counter parts with little or no issues.
7. PS3 not only supported backwards playability with PS2 but lack of region between Japan and US.
8. X-bone has one thing GTA online with children. That is it.
9. Everything from Microsoft have been pro war. If you have been paying attention to what has been occurring with the Orient and American lives it looks bad for X-box.
10. Microsoft woman leader for games hide her face or did not want to be seen with pictures of her with the 360 when it was found out that many Japanese devers are making H-games for it ( or something along those lines ).

The truth is that there is no love with the X-bone at all. Lack of support. It was far better when we had Japanese game consoles being released. Right now the Nvida/Steam machines are looking better and better then the X-box. In fact Steam being an western dever looks more better then any X-bone machine. That said why bother with X-bone.

Then with PC ( personal computers ) in general, we have emulators for systems from the Hudson and NEC age to even Flash and Unity. So it is like we have this abundance of gaming delights to pick from why do we need X-bone.

PS4 for win, and that is enough said. However it was Nintendo vs PS4. Nintendo have better quality but the PS4 is basically mainstream. That being said why bother with anything but an really powerful computer and much research

You know, that's a really good question. Xbox One currently has way more exclusives, and now backward compatibility is big for a lot of people...

Personally, I own both, and I play my PS4 just a bit more. I have no idea why lol I just think Sony's games, though there are fewer, demand a bit more time, if that makes any sense? Their trophy system, more than achievements, makes me want to get that rare platinum trophy for every game I own, so that keeps me coming back. Basically, I just think the games on PS4 so far are BETTER. Master Chief collection was a buggy mess at first, Ryse I actually liked but isn't really good for more than a couple playthroughs, Forza isn't my thing... I think it all depends on the person, really.

Pretty much exactly what @CaviarMeth said. Especially the announcement, because it's meant gamers don't really trust Microsoft now. Sony managed to take full advantage of that too, with their marketing for the console pretty much saying 'it doesn't screw you over like the Xbox One does'. Yes things have changed now and the bad decisions have been revoked, but... people have memories.

Started off cheaper, slightly more powerful, better range of exclusives.

The xbox just turned into the shooter console half-way through last gen and that's pretty much what it is now.

It's smaller, is more powerful so tends to get the better version of multiplats (that was important for the 360 last gen), and is faster at doing things. The Xbox One is takes a surprising amount of time to boot up and I find the UI quite complicated. So much is hidden behind layers and layers and layers, it's just a bit cumbersome. The PS4 is far simpler to navigate in comparison and is very fast at doing things.

I think Playstation in general has better branding and exclusives - though of course the latter point is subjective. It has a lot of positive word of mouth and buzz about it and that goes a long way. If people have friends who have a PS4 and speak positively about it, then they will be more likely to get one, too. The PS3 was so well supported right through 2013 I think that created a lot of goodwill for Sony. They do tend to support their home consoles well.

X-bone always had more exclusives in the past. When the X-box faded away along came an bunch of better performing PC counter-parts. Never forget that horror show.

Here is an better question. Between the X-bone and the PS3, which one have the better looking graphics and features cross platform?

The PSX-2-3-4 all are basically the standard in non-kiddie, and open to the biggest graphics. Nintendo will always be family and have exclusives that will never be missed. But the PSXXXX is just that same thing but without the family. Just fun games for everybody.

X-bone is just another cable box featuring Tetris 9. That is it. Why purchase that thing to begin with, when you know ALL THE NOOK CONTENT WILL BE PORTED, AND ALL SUPPORT FOR THE GAME SYSTEM WILL DROP OFF THE FACE OF THE GLOBE.

PSXXXXX is not like that at all. In terms of between the two. Which one will have the bigger audience. Again, everything is going to be ported to PC, in the end. Why even bother.

Because it is better (hardware wise) and has a very strong mindshare, especially in Europe and Asia.

The launch price helped which, incredibly, is still the same RRP to this very day - €399, $399, £349, ¥39,980 - after twenty months on the market. Worldwide, the PlayStation 4 sells approximately 1,200,000 a month and is already nearing the 25 million milestone.

The PlayStation 4 is a bit of a beast really, whereas the Xbox One and its America centric set-up seemingly appeals to America (obviously!) and the UK, the latter of which eventually had more Xbox 360 consoles (in a household) than the Wii.

I also argue that Microsoft are only interested in dropping the majority of their first party games in the last third of the year whereas Sony like to spread them out evenly, which I much prefer; already had The Order: 1886, Helldivers, Bloodborne, MLB: The Show and a few little indie games too as well as the likes of The Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight.

There's plenty of good reasons why the PlayStation 4 consistently outsells the Xbox One!

DualWielding

it also helps that the PS3 closed very strong while 360's final years were kinda week... the Xbox One has more exclusives now but Sony convinced people int he previous generation that they are the ones with the best exclusives

Because people like a shoddy network, slow download speeds, cheaply made controllers, jet engine fan noise, paying for backwards compatibility (PS Now and or "remasters") and freaking out for games a long way out (FFVII) or a long time coming (The Last Guardian). #BetterPSN

@Ryno: Yeah, because download speed is what makes a console, because backwards compatibility plays a huge role (just don't throw your old console out if you're gonna keep the games anyways) and because the XBone has more than 2 interesting games...oh, wait, none of that applies.
I don't even own either console, but defending the XBone is just ridiculous. There is zero reason to choose it over a PS4.

@KeeperBvK: LOL, Wow! Such a response from someone that doesn't own either. There are plenty of reason's to chose an Xbox One and that is why I did. It is not 2013 anymore.

I have to say, Rare Replay is an AWESOME package. It's the second Xbone exclusive that I've actually really wanted (not counting RotTR, which will likely be out on PS4 in a year).

@WaveBoy: I thought about mentioning Shenmue 3. Now, if only StarTropics could have so much excitement from people that never actually played it. I never had a Dreamcast. The only Sega console I have ever owned is the current Genesis I have for Castlevania Bloodlines.
I can't even remember how far I got through Final Fantasy VII. I should pull out the console and pop in the memory card. It was the first game I bought with the orignal Playstation but at that age I was more into playing sports games with friends. Remember those days playing video games in the same room as your buddies?

Your original response was pretty childish all told so, your 'reasons' are no better.

You have obviously just got yourself a Xbox One and feel the need to 'defend' it, for whatever purpose. Just enjoy what you have got without resorting to silly kindergarten/play school bickering.

The Xbox One has a couple of "remasters" of its own BTW, and the controller has some well known issues of its own too. While the download speeds may well be slow(er) on the PlayStation 4, the installation method is ten times better and swifter than the Xbox One.

Logical reasons are the best kind of ones for these discussions, not petty playground arguments.
