Topic: Why does everyone want Star fox, Metroid or F-Zero so badly?

I believe that Nintendo games have a certain appeal to all the audience so why are hardcore gamers want Star Fox, Metroid or F-Zero games to be there? I can understand Metroid but why the other two? We got Mario Kart, Zelda games and Pokemon as well as Fire Emblem which are hardcore enough so why would you want Star Fox or F-Zero?

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Probably to play them.

One can only play the same game so many times before it gets boring. New entries in old series bring variety that fans will probably enjoy.

Adds some more variety in the mix.
A lot of people seem to enjoy games from these franchises, so naturally they're going to want more of them, and new games in both series seems to be a pretty rare occurrence.
I don't have any real attachments to either, but I would like to see what they can do with both series with the power of the Wii U as they have the potential to be pretty cool, particularly F-Zero.
But Nintendo, above everything else, Kirby Air Ride please.
And Pokemon Snap.

Because they haven't gotten a new installment in quite some time. At least F-Zero & StarFox.

I'm not sure. I'd like to see new IPs join the fiesta.

"Hardcore" is something I don't care one iota about. I want good games, that's it. While I personally don't specifically desire a new installment of the games you listed, I imagine most people do because they have a track record of being great games.

Though as mentioned above, I do want to see more new stuff instead of recycled IPs.

I agree with Chrono_Cross. I would like to see something new but I would still like to see another Star Fox.

I'm more interested to see how the new ones they do have "won't count" this year.

Now personally, while I'm not that interested in a new F-Zero, I'm still hoping someday they can recapture the magic of Star Fox 64 for a new generation. It is one of the defining examples of the power of short games. It's an hour long game, 3 for all 3 major paths, and yet after an insane number of playthroughs, it's not old for me. I can't even fully understand why, but that game just WORKS in every way. I'm hoping Platinum can get some 3 hour per playthrough masterpiece out of a new game.

Why wouldn't they count? Who dictates whether or not they count?

Well, F-Zero never got too much attention before, yet I (and many others) see a lot of potential fun to be had with a new entry or at least VC releases.
StarFox really broke itself with Command and 64 3D in my opinion, which why I'm hoping for an Adventures/Assault hybrid to finally get back on track. Also, Assault had some awesome plot implications that were never taken up - and I really like the StarFox story.
Metroid is a clear case: those who liked Other M want more Metroid, those who hated it want to see a new entry as redemption. Well, and some who demand a fourth Prime game...

All three series you mentioned have one thing in common: their fanbases are smaller than other Nintendo fanbases, but very dedicated. It stands to reason that they want new games, since most of the earlier ones were critically acclaimed and also quite more unique in comparison to the rest of the gaming market (okay, F-Zero has competitors, but they lack the craziness).

Metroid Metroid Metroid!!!

Because Metroid is an amazing series that combines exploration, combat, and a puzzle solving with amazing atmosphere.

F-Zero is way over-rated IMO...it didn't get good until GX on the Gamecube, but by then everyone was into Need for Speed and Gran Turismo and Forza I guess.

Star Fox....I honestly think this is the game that everyone wants that nobody will buy when it's released.

the people who complain Nintendo hasn't made a new IP since Wii Music.

this is actually a thing, even from people with otherwise credible opinions

considering how 2 of the best games of the previous 2 years were new Nintendo IPs, this annoys me greatly

Wow, now that is ignorant. I'm not too sure how many new IPs Nintendo has released since 2010, but I know there's been a lot that have gone under the radar. Though, regardless of popularity, they should still count.

I hope to differentiate myself from those people by saying: I want Nintendo to develop successful new IPs.

It's like:

"<new ip x> doesn't count because <y reason>"

Most of the time, Y reason comes down to "it wasn't specifically tailored to satisfy my personal tastes and needs", with the most common right now being "it's an eshop exclusive"

That's unfortunate. I'd say ignore them since they're completely shut off from reality. lol

Unfortunately, I don't think the undying love of us within the Nintendo fan base is enough to revitalize the Star Fox series. Although we who grew up with Star Fox find the characters endearing, I don't think many of the younger generation would cling to them and their arcade-y one liners as we have. I think the whole series would need a re-imagining. Although I enjoy the short gameplay and cartoon anthropomorphic animals, I don't think modern day gamers who didn't grow up in the 90's will accept it. Regardless I still hope they give it a try, let Platinum games do it!

F-Zero is a very untapped franchise, with extreme potential. It could be Nintendo's mature racing IP to go along with the more fun loving Mario Kart series. I think people want it just because we never get it.

I think it's fairly obvious why Metroid is in such demand. It's arguably Nintendo's 3rd most loved IP behind Mario and Legend of Zelda, and has a solid entry on almost every home console, and can be brought to different genres (FPS, Action- Adventure RPG/ Platformer). It is a great chance for Nintendo to apply to the shooter crowd, and it's a crowd pleaser.

@Dreamz I don't think that she is a very fleshed out character, besides in the one game that most people adamantly hate. I love the setting, love the character artwork, love her suit, and I love her, but the character herself isn't "awesome" if you mean personality.

Try distant 4th! Are you forgetting Pokemon is probably #1 atm followed by Mario and all it's games then Zelda. Metroid is my second favorite series but the truth of the matter is it doesn't come close to making as much money as the other franchises. I think it's to hardcore or most Nintendo fans and not hardcore enough for other system fans!
