Topic: Why being loyal to a company is stupid?

I think the problem people have come from the term 'loyalty'... it's kind of a strong word, and can sometimes imply 'blind following'.

Other than that, there's absolutely nothing wrong with trusting companies that have historically given you reason to do so. For example: a game like Code Name: STEAM isn't something I'd ordinarily be interested in. The fact that Nintendo is behind it, though, gives me pause, because in 25 years of gaming I've learned to trust Nintendo to deliver the kind of gaming experiences I tend to enjoy.

There's nothing wrong with being loyal, but like most things, taking it too far is when you get in trouble. You just need to keep a clear head and retain your ability to TRY and see things from different angles (we're all human so... that's never totally possible).

Being loyal is actually a good thing, because then you have more connection to what you are supporting, but keeping an open mind is always key. People buy iPhone every year, but I know for a fact a lot of them would buy Android phones if they actually knew what they were buying, so there are people who are loyal without knowing what they are loyal to.

If people didn't dedicate time and money to a particular brand, there would not be as much direction for much of anything in the market. That's what I think, anyway. Nintendo knows their fans like Smash Bros, Mario Kart, etc, so that's what they have always done.

Being loyal to people is a good thing. (Being loyal to a company is the same as being loyal to the worst 5% of people you have ever met).

There's nothing wrong about being loyal to a company. As long as you don't become a full fanboy of that company, but then again, you're talking to one of the biggest Nintendo fanboys that never owned a gaming console outside of Nintendo consoles.

They care about your money and since you have control over what you do with your money they care about you. They may not bail you out of jail but there is still a relationship there.

I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

No company cares about you. Your money, sure, but you're not important and your money is microscopic compared to the long run. Losing one customer isn't a fatal blow especially in the gaming industry.

So there's no need for Jimmy to stay up all night thinking of his awesome "relationship" with Nintendo.

Just for you.

I don't even know where to start on this one. I'll have to come back when I'm actually somewhat awake.

Well the relationship between consumer and business is not an "awesome" one. They don't care about you the individual but they care about you the consumer. They want your money, they know if they lose your money they are also losing thousands of people's money that think just like you, or at least similar enough for them to do what you are. Trying to say a business doesn't care about their consumer just isn't true, businesses care, just not on a personal level. Just like I care about the company just not so much that I would be willing to pay their salary myself.

Being loyal to a company is not stupid, but it DOES get stupid when you are blind to their faults.

God first.

It's only stupid if you're blindly loyal to a company, even if they're being unreasonably stupid or shady, and if your gonna be narrow minded towards other products
