Topic: Why being loyal to a company is stupid?

I don't understand this at all. The only reason a company exists is to make money and I get that, but if they make something that reaches your expectations and if its something that you trust and feel like there's no one out there that can do better than that company, why being loyal about it is bad?

For every game company out there are huge fans that are out there and they will support them as long as they care about the company. I don't get how being loyal to someone like Nintendo is bad? Ok Nintendo may not be the greatest thing alive and all but if you're memories are based around Nintendo, don't you think you have to support Nintendo all the way till its end? Without support, companies can't improve their services and if that happens, it goes bankrupt.

Critics tend to look only at fans who take arguments too far and are generally ridiculous. This for some reason represents the opinion of the whole.

Buying what you don't want just because you hope for getting something better in the future isn't exactly smart in most cases.

you don´t have to be loyal, it's a matter of choice after all
the problem i see is you taking it personal, people is loyal to any company regardless of how stupid or good can it be

there is people loyal to ubisoft and EA...

it's not stupid, just don't take it personal

IMO the problem is not being loyal, it is being narrow minded and refuse things because they do not come from the company you are loyal to without giving them a chance.

I am loyal to Nintendo as in I always buy their consoles and most of their games, but that does not stop me from loving Uncharted and Gears of War.

You can be loyal to a company, it's just the lengths, extremes, and in most case drama some people goes through to prove or disprove it. Even if it's 1 out of 1000 (or less) that cause some commotion, their actions reflects on us as a whole and that becomes the negative label put on the normal and/or sane ones. Same with the word fanboy and the internet's view on it.

@sinalefa @BinaryFragger again, i get that they exist to make money and I'm not saying Nintendo is the best in the world and all. I'm just saying that its one of the very few game companies out there that for the most part does things that consumers want.

Again, its not like I'm only into Nintendo and I've loved games like Rayman, Sonic and many others. My rant here is that when Nintendo does something, people don't like it and when Nintendo does something that people want, they won't like it either. Clearly its something that bothers the hell out of me.

When I play a Nintendo game, it brings me joy to my eyes and when playing a third party game, that Nintendoish feeling isn't there and I know I can't say that because different games have different game feels, but third party games for the most part don't put a smile on my face.

Not going personal here, just something that always happens to me when I play Nintendo games in general. I'll never forget my moments in FE:A or every time I play with Mario.....and Bowser.......like the most awesome villain ever!!!!

@Artwark

You will find haters everywhere. I feel the same as you when playing Nintendo games, but still games like Flower or Journey have been great experiences to me on my PS3. Same with others like PlatinumGames. I guess it depends on the passion of the developer.

A company makes a product I like then I like the company, if a company makes a product I don't like then I am not a fan of the company. I will not continue to support a company that makes products I don't like but I would still consider myself loyal to the company. I don't think being loyal is stupid, I think being blind to a company's faults is stupid.

That part bugs the heck out of me too. So many times I'll read an about what Nintendo do to a game or system and the comments gets drown out by negative views. Either by making a game more accessible to others with an option or feature like "Casual mode" in FE: Awakening and help box in later Mario games or just explaining something like "friend code" for the Wii U or the factories condition in china.

I kind of figured we know the pattern by now.

Brand loyalty to me isn't blindly following Nintendo because Nintendo. I am loyal to Nintendo because their games and IPs are ones that I enjoy playing. The vast majority of games and IPs available on PS and XB simply aren't games that I'm interested in. Money plays a role as well. I simply cannot afford to buy more than one console for the one or two games I would play on them that aren't available on Nintendo consoles.

At the same time, even though Nintendo's competitors mostly release games I'm not personally interested in, I'm not gonna talk crap about them because chances are they ARE good games, objectively.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

That is something I will never understand when you can wait even as little as a month and get the exact same thing for as little as 25% of the price. (Same as deliberately over paying taxes as far as I am concerned which pretty much nobody does).

I don't favor any particular company. I think they all make some great games, but the feeling you get from them is different. I try not to compare one companies 1st party titles with another, they all play differently and different people will like different games. (except some people like me who enjoy them all

I said "different" too many times...

People who are personally upset at this news, without even knowing all the facts or how it will play out, are indeed 'stupid'.

There is nothing wrong with consumer loyalty. I love my current car and will buy a newer model of the same thing once it croaks. It is company zealotry that is an issue. Some folks act like companies care about them personally and get honestly offended if you don't like OR if you do like their products. I think that is done in an attempt to justify a purchase... most people work hard for their money, so you never want to feel that if you had looked a little more that you would have gotten a better value. Also some people don't like it once they realize that they are no longer the target demographic, so they demand a company change course to suit them... even if doing so doesn't suit the company's bottom line.
