As much as I love Pikachu and Final Fantasy, nothing beats kicking back after playing hours of RPG's and trading in some time for Mappy, or Pac-Man, or Donkey Kong, or Galaga!!! I was born at the tail end of the eighties but nothing makes me feel better than to play games that are older than me. Eighties games are alot harder to play than the newer games (especially RPG's) and the gameplay is simpler. But they're the classics that started it all so they do deserve respect.
Pac-Man is still in my top 10 games. It's just a masterpiece of quick-thinking simplicity. I prefer Miss Pac-Man slightly, actually, but it'd be foolish to give that more credit than the original as it only refined the basic template.
Every so often I'll come across a Pac-Man machine somewhere, and, when I do, I need to spend a dollar or two playing games on it. It's one of those very, very, very rare games that I've never gotten tired of, and I've been playing it since I was probably 4 or 5 years old.
Donkey Kong, I'm sorry to admit, does little more than annoy me.
Mappy is one of the cuter one's but I've never made it past round 12. When I was younger I played Pac-man and made it to the 10th round but now I can't make it past the third round on both Pac-man and it's sequels. It's quite sad. I am trying to beat the mappy world record (which is well over 800,000 points). So far I have only made 63,730 as my highest score. If I play it non-stop for maybe a zillion years I might be able to tie with it.
Maybe we can reduce this to "What's your Favourite Arcade machine", I have a few...
Galaga GaPlus Super Pitfall 2 (the sound rings in my ear to this day!) Rastan Bubble Bobble TMNT 4 Player Simpsons 4 Player King of Fighters '98 (I know that's a bit younger than the games that you're talking about, but it is 11 years old now) Time Crisis Virtua Cop House of the Dead Dance Dance Revolution Beat Mania AfterBurner Space Harrier Dig Dug Mr Do!
Can't think of anything else right now, I'll add some more later.
Love DDR!!! But I can only score high on the easy level. I'm still sore from playing DDR on PS2 so I've been taking a break from that to try to break world records on older games (Which I know I can't but it's fun to try).

tbh, I prefer the Beat Mania games, I was a huge DDR fan back in early 2000s, but I got bored with it and got into Beat Mania and other instrument games.
I love Mappy on my P-n-P. Also, even though these games are in my P-n-P I go to my local Dave & Buster's and play a few round of Galaga, Pac-Man, and Ms. Pac-Man on the anniversary machine. I also love all the Nintendo classics, and me loves a fun round of side scrolling space shooters.
@ 9. Rabid Pikachu On your P-n-P game is it the Namco one with the five games in it? If it is the joystick also works as a spinner, try twisting the joystick. I think I have the same one, as I had that problem.
Donkey Kong on NES is a bit too awkwardly old school. I hope the arcade version gets released if it's so much better, but I don't think I've ever even see it in arcades, actually.
I've play the D.K. arcade before, when I was little, awesome game too. But I have to agree with Adam, I want to see the arcade version of the game so that you get that missing level!
Well, Ms.Pac-man is my all time favorite, when I was young I used to play it for hours on my Atari 2600. I also have the Namco P-n-P with 5 games and I can't get enough of Pac-man and Mappy, I just love those games.

I want the newer arcade games....give me Final Fight: Revenge or Shock Troopers: Second Squad...pacman is great but I can essentially get the same gaming experience on a graphing calculator...If I'm paying Wii's VC cost, I want the arcade games I actually used to pay to play.
