Hello there. Today, I decided that if I get an PS3 this Christmas holiday, I wanted to get two games, because they are cheaper then LittleBigPlanet and should make my eventual PS3 experience much more exciting.

The first one I will be getting is Burnout: Paradise, but I'm trying to decided between Street Fighter IV and Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction as my second game.

Which one of the two should I get for Christmas?

I'm setting up a poll-like competition to see which one of the two games mentioned would be the better deal. Give out reason why you would prefer if I get Street Fighter IV or Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

Street Fighter IV: 1
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction: 0

Personally, I would just get Street Fighter II HD and Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty. Both are cheap downloadable games, I think $15 each? I forget. I have both, and both are great. They're close enough to their retail counterparts that you'll enjoy them tremendously, cheap enough that you can enjoy two games for half the price of one retail game, and short enough (in R&C's case) that replaying it is more practical.

If you only get one, I'd personally choose SFIV. Then either rent R&C, or download the other R&C. I rented R&C ToD, and I enjoyed it but it got old after awhile. SFIV was very fun in my short time with it at the arcade.

Very good suggestion Adam, but I will take more suggestions from other PS3-owning people.

To be honest, I am somewhat biased on this subject, but I personally enjoy R&C TOD over SFIV. I have played both, and if your not too good at the Street Fighter series (like me), then you might not enjoy SFIV. Although, the game definitely has more replay value than R&C, as it has local and online multiplayer, and some DLC (mainly costumes and Championship mode). If you like Street Fighter, I believe you'll like this.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed R&C TOD. The universe is very vibrant, and the gameplay and graphics are excellent. It's around 15 (maybe 10-15) hours long, and the ending sets up for Crack In Time coming out on October 27th. There is some replay value, but not much unless you by Quest For Booty (sequel to TOD) on the PSN store like Adam suggested. For about 3-4 hours of gameplay, Quest for Booty is $15.

Hope this helped you (in a non-biased way) in making your decision! :)

Can't Wait for Gran Turismo 5, NSMB Wii, Demon's Souls, Ratchet and Clank ACIT, and Uncharted 2!

And that's just 2009...

Yea, SFIV is very hard. I'm not good at it either. It is fun to play against friends though. I just wouldn't recommend playing random matches online or expecting to get far against the computer. However, you might be better than Soliloquy and I.

Then I'm cutting Street Fighter IV out of the subject and getting Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, if I do get a PS3 this holiday.

Edit: Just kidding, still trying to decide.

Tools of Destruction is a discount title now, by the way, at $30, so you might be able to finagle some extra gameage out of the deal. There are quite a few great $30 games like Resistance, MGS4, Warhawk, and Uncharted (I think those are all in the discount line-up). The new one, Crack in Time, will be out by then, too, at full price.

SF4 is only 20 bucks at Gamestop now, assuming this is a US-based thread. That makes it 10 dollars more compelling...if that's a unit of compellingness. Have not played ToD though, only the downloadable sequel (which was quite a fun experience, despite being short)

Swerdy, it says $40 and backordered on Gamestop's site. You either saw the player's guide by mistake, or have a local Gamestop that is not good at putting on the correct prices, methinks. The game is less than a year old! Even the preplayed one is listed as $35. If it's seriously $20 where you live, I demand you get a copy for me. :)

It was $20 for a few days a while back (NEW - or at least Gamestop opened). It's one of those deals that makes you run out the door when you hear about it. I suggest anyone to follow Gamestop on Twitter as they posted that deal on there. Also, Frys Electronics had the SFIV Tournament stick for $90 last Saturday! (compared to 149.00 MSRP).

To OP: If you grew up on Street Fighter, you should be able to jump right into SFIV. I haven't played it in years (since the SNES), but I was able to pick up and play with all the same moves. Also, the Ultra Combos are awesome.

You'd probably find better prices for everything on Amazon or even your local Craigslist...
