The title is self-explanatory, which of these had the most underrated library? To be honest, it has to be the Wii. Yes, it had a lot of shovelware, yes, there were bad uses of motion control in games, and yes, it did lack high profile multiplatform support.
But it actually does have a lot of great hidden gems, many of which people either never heard of, or choose to ignore.
I second that, mainly because (and I will never not remind people of this) most of the best games outside of Nintendo either no one bought or no one talks about anymore.
I was going to say Wii as well. SNES, Gamecube, and Wii U seem to be all regarded quite highly around here, and I'm not fond of the N64 library overall.
But it's eyeroll-worthy to see people act like the Wii was awful because of 3rd party shovelware and like 4 games with bad waggle controls that would have been bad anyway.

I'll say the Wii. I always see comments about how the console was a trashy gimmick with very few good games. Then I think about the library of 25+ physical copies of games I bought, and even more through the Virtual Console and WiiWare and wonder how anybody could hate the console. It wasn't perfect but it had some excellent games, and some such as both Super Mario Galaxies, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, Muramasa, Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 1 and 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns, were among the best games I played in the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii generation. From WiiWare my favorite games were Contra ReBirth and Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People.
Wii for sure. Some people like to believe that since a console has shovelware, its good titles are negated. The Wii also had motion controls working against it which most "hardcore" gamers hated, but the system still had good games. The Gamecube had some underrated titles too.
A lot of ignorant people will ignore the Wii U's library because of the low sales. So the Wii U deserves an honorable mention when it's lifespan is over.

It's an easy thing to do because a lot of the lesser known underrated Wii titles don't stand out from the shovelware in terms of frontcovers and titles.

Unless you run into a store, throw every game on the shelf into your basket and buy them all, it's very, very easy to avoid bad games. 5 minutes of internet research and you can probably get a list of 20 Wii games that are all fantastic and worth your dollars.

I meant that if I visit a store I can't easily recognize some of the underrated classics among the trash. I've so far enjoyed all my Wii purchases, but I also didn't buy some games I should've because I thought they were shovelware.
I still think hidden gems isn't that accurate because they are not that hidden at all. All the information exists.
The information exists doesn't equal everyone knowing the information. You might see a game in store and disregard it, and a week later discover it's a rare hidden gem.
I would go with the Gamecube. There were so many great games on it that alot of people overlooked. And multiplatform games like Soul Caliber 2 I felt ran and looked better on the cube the the other two consoles. I also liked the WWE Day of Recoding series more then the Smackdown series on PS and the Raw series on Xbox.

I cannot really speak for everybody but stuff like the Saturn / PS1 / PC Engine Japanese libraries are what I consider hidden.
Or the X68000 (None Arcade or Console ports).
If there is a Racketboy article with it in then it is not really that hidden.

No, those are unavailable/hard to get. Hidden gems are available, but hidden among the stock because most people just browse past it.
Yeah, a hidden gem is something that most people wouldn't know about without a lot of effort. Stuff that wasn't well-advertised or talked about. Just because you can find it mentioned somewhere on a site that people who are neckdeep into obscure retro gaming go to, does not mean it isn't hidden. That would be absurd, otherwise the only true "hidden gem" would be garage indie demoes a guy sold at a garage sale, because everything else is a few clicks away on the modern internet...
Yeah, probably the Wii. As much as I hate motion controls and love to badmouth that console, it had a lot of decent games hidden under piles and piles of shovelware.
