Steam is having a sale on all three, and I didn't find a PC gaming thread, so I was wondering which one I should get?

Is 1 better? How about 2? And 3?

Are there still people online for the first 2?

if you care about online at all, get 3 (or better yet, get BLOPs2). New games win for multiplayer, especially for an annual release series.

In terms of single player, the first game is definitively the best and is probably the best of the modern day war scenario "realistic" FPS in that regard.

@kkslider5552000 Have you tried out Spec Ops: The Line? It's been getting quite a good reception in regards to its campaign.

I do agree that the first Modern Warfare is pretty freaking awesome. There's a reason that game turned heads at release.

As to which one you should get, what's more important to you? If it's single player, get the first one, if it's multiplayer, get the third one, and if it's both, I'd just get all three. The way I view it is that the multiplayer got better with each entry while the single player got slightly worse with each one (although all three have good campaigns.)

As for who's online, I can't speak for PC, but I do know that there's still tons of people online with Modern Warfare 2 on PS3 and especially 360.

Yeah, but from what I've heard of the game, I wouldn't put them in the same category at all and the people who really like these games are often the last people who would get into Spec Ops: The Line...again, from what I've heard.

Black Ops 2 isn't on sale/isn't on Steam.

I'm looking for a great online experience with a decent single player. Basically: I want to shoot stuff and unleash some rage! (to put it bluntly).

Modern Warfare 2 is highly recommended. The offline will keep you busy with its fantastic storyline and Spec Ops is a great bonus for that extra urge. I'm not sure how co-op works when it comes to PC since you need another player to even begin completing the missions.

The online should still be fairly active with around 20-30 thousand active players daily. Though, if Modern Warfare 3 is anywhere near the same price, I recommend that one, especially if an inactive online community is a concern.

I liked World of War, too, but then again, I like WWII, and to be quite honest, Call of Duty Classic is a better game than WaW, IMO.

Don't get any honestly. Call of Duty gets really old and isn't fun.

As others have said, MW1 for the story and MW 3 for the multiplayer. There's a better selection of maps in MW3 (IMO, of course).

Business person, yeah, but this isn't the topic for that discussion.

I also love it how you always bring that up when we bicker. Kind of pathetic.

Yes it is on Steam and it is the best online COD available.

The latest MW games are pretty poor when it comes to hackers. Finding great servers on the original MW is easier, and the game is the cheapest if you're 100% intent on getting a MW game.

The most enjoyable online COD experience is BO2 though.
