Topic: Where's A Good Place to Start In the Metal Gear Solid Series If I Don't Own Any PlayStation Systems?

Hey guys, I really want to play Metal Gear Solid because it looks like an awesome game, but the problem is most of the games are on PlayStation, and I don't own any PlayStation systems. Where's a good place to start since I don't. I currently have a GameCube, Wii, and Xbox 360 if it helps. Also, isn't there going to be a 3DS Metal Gear that uses the 2nd Circle Pad attachment?

On the Gamecube there was a remake of the original MGS game called Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. I currently can't think of any other MGS games on the other platforms you have. And yes, there is going to be an MGS game on the 3DS. The game is a remake of the third game of the series, which will be called Snake Eater 3D. And yes, the remake uses the Circle Pad Pro.

360 is getting an HD rerelease of MGS2, MGS3, and Peace Walker.

I would second V8_Ninja there with The Twin Snakes; may as well start as close to the original as you can. :3

Yeah go with Twin snakes. It's the one I started with.
I never played the original PS1 MGS but once I tried Twin snakes I was hooked.
After that I had to go out and get all the other Metal Gear games. Still haven't tried MGS 4 though.
I should get on that soon.

Start with MGS1, remake or not for sure. The remake seems to be the only option you have, though I would recommend the PS1 game over it.

And then I'd recommend getting the 3D MGS3 port 110% when it comes out. One of my favorite games ever, though I don't know how the 3DS will treat it.
notice my avi. it's from MGS3~

How hard is it to find a copy of The Twin Snakes? And does it control crappy because of the GameCube controller?

I thought that was only on PS3?

Twin snakes shouldn't be too hard to find on something like E-bay or whatever.
The controls were pretty decent I thought. You can customize the button layout to fit your preference also.

How hard would it be to find at a GameStop? I'm afraid of buying it and getting a scratched disc or something.

Start with Metal Gear Solid 1 then work your way up in order. (1,2,3,4)

It's gonna be hard because as I said I own no PS systems. I can 1 on GC and 2 and 3 if that collection is gonna be on Xbox 360.

Your better off with the collection anyway. You get Peace Walker along with 2&3. Your set if you can get MGS1. Er I mean Twin Snakes on the GCN of course.

Just for you.

Get twin snakes on Gamecube, then get the HD collection on 360. You'll play all of the main games except 4 and Portable Ops (although the latter isn't really all that important.)

So yeah basically get Twin Snakes then the collection for 360. Don't be worried about getting it scratched. I order a bunch of stuff and it always arrives safe. eBay for the most part is safe.
After that amazing game the HD collection pretty much has you set. I know it has 2 and 3 so you can keep following the story. ( If you have the money I'd recommend getting MGS3D even if you do buy the collection. MGS 3 on the go? Yes please!)
I don't remember if the collection has 4... So incase it doesn't you're out of luck. Need a PS3 for that one. The system is real cheap now btw so I completely recommend getting it just for that one game if you end up liking MGS.
As far as I know this is the only way to get the games in order on the consoles you have. Good luck.

You might get lucky and find Twin snakes at gamestop but I wouldn't bet on it.
The last time I checked one of those stores they didn't have alot of GameCube games.
Your best chance would more likely be eBay and don't worry it's usually safe.
Just buy from the people that get all the A++ reviews.

I know pretty much nothing about Metal Gear series but isn't there at least one Metal Gear Solid game for PC? If you don't mind playing with your computer instead of console.

It's its, not it's.

My computer doesn't run games too well. I'm actually trying to get a new one for gaming.

Punny

Following in the same footsteps a you, I would start with Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for GameCube. I began playing the Metal Gear Solid series yesterday, so I know where you're coming from. I just wish I was better at it, though. I'm new to stealth-action games...

I'm back (for the moment)!

Tasuki

The only thing though is Twin Snakes will go for about $130 brand new on places like Ebay and Amazon while used can go for about $54. It just might be cheaper to just pick up a PSone and a copy of Metal Gear Solid for the PS.
