There are games I probably should have bought at release but didn't because I already had loads to play. They have since become quite hard to get hold of at reasonable prices, but I sort of enjoy the challenge!

Another one for me was being a raging "pro-Nintendo, anti-Sony" fanboy for a couple of years during the PSX/N64 generation.
Thankfully, though, I quickly got over myself after I actually played a few awesome PlayStation games.
Same here ... couldn't believe how bad I was when I look back at my (admittedly embarrassing) comments.
Wish the same could be said of some folks on here; it is absolutely absurd to be blindly loyal to one company.
agreed. I mean, I genuinely don't think I was quite as bad as some people since even when I got mad at my cousins for thinking Xbox was better than GCN, I fully knew it had some cool games I liked and I was always interested in playing PS1/2 when I could. I was more pro-Nintendo than anti-other companies if that makes any sense...
Maybe buying Paper Mario SS. They screwed that game up so bad..
I totally agree about the feeling. I stopped playing it about 6-7 hours into when I finally accepted that I just didn't care for it and I loved the Paper Mario series. Now I'm stuck with the digital version of it and can't resell it. Now I am very cautious which game I buy digitally...Like Animal Crossing and Brain Age Concentration Training (I knew I will be playing them for a long time so it made sense to go digital).

What ever happen to just liking games?
As a kid I mostly had Nintendo consoles but I wanted to play other consoles as well, but didn't have much money.
When video rental store was still a thing back then, they would let you rent a console for a week, so I would rented a PSOne, so I could play some of the vest amount RPGs and fighting games they had. I remember it was $12 to rent the console, and $5 to rent a game for a week, so I spent a lot of time trying to finish them quickly.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
The weirdest thing was, I didn't care about "console wars" before then; I loved both the Genesis and the Super NES before I upgraded to the next gen, and I thought the Saturn looked really cool too. I don't quite know where my misguided PlayStation hate came from.
I just went through this odd, almost random phase where I became a massive tool that didn't want to play as many great games as I possibly could.
Paper Mario Sticker Star is up there. I knew it was going to be different, but even at $20 I just could not like any part of that game. I could not enjoy any part of that one. Steel Diver is also up there. At $5 it was overpriced, and the period of time I spent on it was just boring. Spending money on Carnival Games was also a terrible mistake.
Best thread ever

Not buying Xenoblade when it was in print
Using the N64 for nothing but Pokemon games as a kid (although, to be fair, Pokemon Snap is still a really fun game)
Letting some of my rarer PS1 games get scratched up when I was younger
Opting for a 360 over a PS3 years back
My family opting for a Genesis over an SNES when I was a kid. I mean, I still enjoyed it, but my god, look at the difference in the quality of the games!
Not discovering a lot of great Atlus franchises until just this year
Digitally buying NSMB2...kinda wished I didn't, I'm stuck with it now.
Mine too, exactly! I would easily get money back for it selling online, but I'm stuck with it By far the worst Mario game I have ever played.
I mean, its not that bad...but after the Wii game, it kinda gets old...Dunno how the whole coin collecting theme thing got me into, lol.
Luck was on my side since it was my first NSMB game and they offered double the club Nintendo coins for the digital version.
If that's the case for you then get the U version...I'm thinking it'll have the same effect as the Wii version. For me it brought back Super Mario World memories for me.
(not sure if the U version will or not, but still go for it)
I stand by what I said, NSMB2 is a piece of garbage and a waste of money. New Super Mario Bros Wii U though... Awesome! They clearly put some effort into it. Best 2D Mario since Yoshi's Island.
Letting my Gameboy Advance SP and my Nintendo DS Lite get scratched up and in such bad condition as a kid Also not getting into Pokemon as a kid I Missed out on all the Gameboy games and half the DS games I really want Pokémon Platinum, Ruby, etc.
In the footsteps of ILOVENINTENDO, forgetting my Gameboy Color WITH Pokémon Trading Card Game in it at an airport. I think it actually happened to me two times.
