Topic: What's with all the fanboy wankery?

People in the OG board tend to lead fanboy battles where the fanboys of one system group together and gratulate each other on how great their sysdtem is while the fanboys of the other system flame them for it. Are you so insecure about your purchase that you have to group together just to tell each other why the other nearly identical system is so much worse?

I like my console, couldn't care less about the other guys. I know I'm not missing out on much.

I still wanna go in that 360/PS3 thread though and fling some mud. When I get really bored I might.

I've never really noticed too much of that on NLs forums.

I could care less about any of it UNTIL its the fans that look over and/or ignore major issues with the company that they are a fanboy of. If the company is screwing its gamers they are screwing them and its just that. Just because you like them doesnt mean they cant get better and fix there problems.

Because everyone with a PS3/360/PC that criticizes the Wii actually wishes they had one.

Or they know nothing about the Wii. To them, the Wii is underpowered, waggle-based, has bad online, and is for kiddies.

These are the types of things that make me dislike this site and its members. Well actually Nintendo fans in general.

And for the most part, what was supposed to be a fanboyish assertion in your post, is correct. The Wii is underpowered, a lot of games are just waggle, and compared to any other console it has bad online. Bring in someone that cares to argue about the Wii being targeted to a younger audience, and most of what you posted is correct.

Talk about irony.

The "other nearly identical system?" They really aren't all THAT similar, y'know. Blu-ray vs. DVD, built-in wireless vs. $100 add-on, standardized hard drives vs. overpriced proprietary ones, free online vs. paid service (and Live's been running like crap again lately, at least in my house, while PSN remains smooth as ever), smartly designed to cool efficiently vs. overheating machine... Yeah, they're practically the same thing!

Okay, so I'll grant you they're more similar than either is to the Wii, but that's not really the point, is it? Like I've said, I made my conclusion after spending a lot of time with both the 360 AND the PS3. I know the differences inside and out from experience. So when I see a discussion about PS3 vs. 360 come up, I put in my analysis and watch as it's either ignored or ripped apart regardless of its content.

What's with people using the word "wankery" and expecting to be taken seriously?

I don't know what "wankery" means. I feel insecure.

I wouldn't say the Wii is underpowered, I'd say the other consoles were overpowered. The Wii is as powerful as it needs to be and no more, the 360 and the PS3 are so ridiculously beefed up to the point where both companies make huge losses selling them.

More needless comparisons and lots of that bad word up there.

@AlexSays & StuffGamer1..... Yall guy both said it perfectly within your two post. Ive owned all 3 myself and now only have the PS3 and that is MY preference. The Wii is great at what it does best. Motion Control when implemented properly, Nintendo Greatness in its first party games, Mario Galaxy is pure video gaming Gold. VC/WiiWare success is well known. VC bein a literal Gaming Retro Collection. But it also has some major faults, the main one and the one that pushed me away from the system is the lack of Games that deserve their AAA title. Too much shovelware and Nintendo needs to quit putting there seal of approval on anything that want to be shoved on the shelf.

Unless someone in this thread works for Microsoft or Sony's game divisions, whether they are selling at a loss is entirely irrelevant to whether the system is good for gamers or not. If we are comparing console quality as gamers, a system can't be overpowered. There's no logical reason to be glad that a console is less capable in any regard than its rivals. I'd love for the Wii to be capable of rendering a game like Flower, or for the WiiWare size limit to allow for games like Street Fighter II HD and Fat Princess.

One can definitely say the Wii is underpowered. The Wii may be the king or queen of sales right now, but that doesn't mean it rules at everything.

That's the first I've heard this one.

@AlexSays: I've heard that kind of logic before, and to a point, it makes sense. If it wasn't for Sony and Microsoft having tons of money earned from other divisions to throw at gaming, the "standard" console power wouldn't be anywhere NEAR PS3 and 360 quality. It might still be somewhat better than the Wii, but not nearly so much. The Wii gets a bad rap on graphics simply because it was made by the company who wanted to make something affordable for both the customer and the company. I'm pretty sure you've been present when this kind of stuff was being discussed before. I guess I could be wrong, though. Shrug

Even with all I've just said above, I do still love what my PS3 can do (and the 360, when it's not busy breaking again or taking four discs for an RPG). But it's not technically necessary at all. They are an improvement over the previous generation of ridiculous proportions, and as such, are in a way overpowered.
