Wii U. Because I own it already.

Well that was quick.

(I'm so never getting a Microsoft console again though, if I ever end up getting a second console again it is Sony's)

I'm never getting a console that breaks exacly one year after I bought it ever again. Which is another good reason why I'm not getting either console day one.

JRPGs.

I expect the PS4 will win. The PS3 slaughtered everyone in that genre this gen.

I think that might depend on how costly it would be to develop for. If the Wii U is significantly cheaper, I could see more games winding up on the Wii U. Course, I suppose if they're gonna go cheaper, they'd go for portables, but who these days really has the kind of money for a big budget RPG besides Square-Enix? Even Atlus doesn't develop RPGs for home consoles these days.

Level-5
Bandai Namco
From Software
Mistwalker

Also I don't just care about big budget JRPGs so...

GUST (Tecmo Koei)
Idea Factory/ Compile Heart
Spike Chunsoft
Marvellous
etc etc.

It's really difficult to see most of these guys, especially the second tier, moving to either Microsoft or Nintendo. Namco Bandai and Mistwalker are the only two that have even made JRPGs for either of those platform holders in the past generation, and in both cases it was token support at best. Marvellous is the only one I would consider to be a "Nintendo first" developer. So, either the Vita takes off and they become handheld specialist developers (entirely possible, I'll grant), or they continue to support the PlayStation brand with the PS4.

Sony does have all of those niche RPG guys deep into their console ecosystem.

Wonder what a big to mid range falcon game would look like.

I know for sure that I'll be getting the next Xbox and PS4, which one I get first will come down to price and launch games. Since I enjoy gaming with my friends the console most of them go with could also play a small role. Wii U, sadly I've almost completely ruled it out. Nintendo's first party stuff will be excellent and maybe worth getting the system for later on but to this point I have yet to see any real reason to get excited about it which is disappointing because I've always been a big fan of Nintendo and would buy its systems as soon as possible.

why wouldn't you get another Microsoft console?

Because almost everything I have on the 360 you can get on Ps3 and Ps3 actually has exclusives I care about. Also older Ps1/2 games as I am sad I've missed out on so many good games in the past.

I'll get a PS4 if it doesn't block out used games.

ShiftyLook - Bringing back Namco classics, Step 1- Webcomics.
I help keep these threads updated: New 3DS VC games in Japan, Missing 3DS VC and Wii U VC between regions, and Full of list first party Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Gear games missing from the 3DS VC.

I don't know if I will buy a next gen console. I really don't care for motion controls and it looks like they are all going that way. Hopefully someone doesn't.

I dunno, I think that motion control was somewhat of a fad. Sure it's not going away, but I don't think it will be as popular as it has been..

Already have a Wii U.
I have no idea on wether I'll get a 720 or PS4, or whatever they're named. It took me until late last year to get a PS3(which I still haven't set up), and I never played with my 360 outside of literally two games.
If I get one, it'd probably be the PS4, as that had some exclusives that were actually good(and I would have gotten it far sooner if it had cost less). The 360 had little that interested me. They both had good games, Nintendo just trumps both to my tastes and I'm not really allowed to have all of them so soon. :P

I'd like to say that I recommend my my Backloggery, but I haven't updated it in a long time!

Well.
One: Brand Loyalty.. or stigma
I really, really don't like Microsoft because of Windows. It's not that mac is great, it's that microsoft is so bad. So stigma from the start pushes me towards Nintendo and Sony

Two: Games
I'd love to play Crash Bandicoot in HD.

Three: Price
I'm not made of money.

But windows isn't bad. Windows 7 and 8 have both been reviewed highly and are really great.

Windows 7 was well regarded. Windows 8 seems to have divided people. Personally, I'm still rolling with XP for as long as possible...

Windows 8 is good but it is better suited to a tablet when using the Metro interface parts. Even those work well of you have touchscreen or decent track pad on your computer.

My next computer will probably be the next version of the surface pro.

But I do agree that their is the element of brand loyalty or simply put fanboyism. Probably one of the reason Durango will be the first one I'm getting,

Will be intrestjmg to see the console wars start up again.
