Topic: What is your favorite Gaming Console and why?

I'm glad to see the N64 love in here! That'd be my favorite retro console as well. Mario 64, WaveRace 64, 1080, Jet Force Gemini and Beetle Bug Adventure are but are few of the games' that make the N64 my favorite console ever — and that's before getting into the crazy multiplayer madness of Smash Bros and GoldenEye 64!

My favorite console ever has gotta be either the Super Nintendo or the GameCube.

The Super Nintendo was there for me when I was tiny. I played a plethora of games for that system compared to any other console I've owned so far. With colorful sprite graphics and limited technology that forced developers to be crafty, it was quite a lovely experience.

The GameCube was Resident Evil glory for me along with Wind Waker (which is my 2nd zelda game) and Super Smash Bros. With an awesome controller and the console's unique design written all over with Nintendo charm, it was a more memorable time that's more recent.

Current favorites:

3DS - It's like a souped-up DS with Wii-quality graphics, and the speakers are impressive (virtual surround sound in some games).

Wii - I love the motion controls in Wii Sports Resort and Skyward Sword. I love using the Wii Remote for shooters. I love that we got new installments in forgotten franchises (DKC Returns, Kirby Returns to Dreamland, NSMB Wii). I love the Virtual Console, it's possibly one of the most brilliant things Nintendo has come up with. And last but certainly not least, Metroid Prime Trilogy.

PS3 - All those pretty HD games: Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, GTA 4, Uncharted, Mortal Kombat 9, LittleBigPlanet, etc.

Old favorites:

Game Boy Advance - It's like a portable Super NES, and you can play all your old GB games in COLOR! And I loved Metroid Fusion.

Super NES - Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, etc.

NES - 8-bit Mega Man goodness, Super Mario Bros. 3, the first TMNT, and I just love 8-bit music and sounds.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country 1 + 2, Super Mario All-Stars, Chrono Trigger, numerous Final Fantasy games, LttP, Super Metroid, Mario RPG and Contra III cement this as my all time favorite system <3

PS3. Why? Because it only does everything.

^Except play Halo, or Gears, or Mario. But everything else, perfect^ (I forgot how to make small text)

I agree. If it wasn't for Halo, I probably would have never played an Xbox. Though Microsoft seems to have gotten a few things right with the Xbox 360:

• They created the most comfortable controller ever
• They standardized online console gaming with Xbox Live
• They successfully transformed game systems into do-it-all multimedia hubs (could be a positive or negative depending on your views)

Whenever I get a new console, it's my new favourite for a while. So... at the moment, it's the PS3.

SNES hands down. I grew up on the SNES and then the PlayStation (with a healthy dose of NES too). The SNES had and has some of the most amazing games, with the most beautiful graphics, and the most amazing music, ever to grace a television. I have such fond memories of it and the NES. Sometimes some of these Virtual Console games will make me go on an old cartoon intro watching spree. 90s games and cartoons forever man!

I agree, the GCN controller is my personal favorite. The 360 controller is good except for the fact that it feels way too light imo. I would have preferred it a little heavier, lol. The PS3 controller is also pretty good, the thing is, it's just too darn small, just like the original Classic Controller so that your thumbs ram into each other when playing an intense game involving both sticks. I also don't like how the R2 and L2 buttons don't have something firm underneath them like the DS2 used to have, it just feels less responsive imo. You do get used to that after a while though.

But yeah, the Gamecube controller is hands down my favorite controller. I have absolutely no gripes with it.

GameCube it just had the best games(to me) and controls. Definently my fav.

Of the current systems, the Xbox 360 for home consoles. It doesn't have a ton of exclusives but I prefer Halo and Gears over any of the PS3 exclusives and because I find XBL to be the superior online service I get the big multiplats for the 360 as well. 3DS is easily my favorite of the current handhelds, we'll see if that changes when Vita releases in NA.

As far as my all time favorites... It's tough to decide between SNES and PS2 for home consoles. Handhelds, the GBA but I think 3DS does have potential to top it.

Favorite console: Wii.
Reason: Loved the innovation of motion control/IR pointer, and Wii Remote Speaker. As well as the nunchuk. Loved the Virtual Console. Own many games. Lots of franchises by Nintendo. Also backward compatible with GC which gives me more games to play. Compact and quiet and doesn't eat up electricity. Simple straight "let's play" menu with all the games with a simple click. Fun distraction with the browser. Beautiful too. Love it.

For me it is a tough call between the NES and SNES. I enjoy both of them immensely and I will always have them "hooked up" to a TV near me. Other systems and their games will come and then eventually get boxed-up in the future but not the NES and SNES. If my house catches on fire I am gong in to save my NES & SNES collection!

My favorite gaming console is whichever system has the game I want to play at that moment on it.
