Topic: What game will be game of the year?

I think its going to be between Modern Warfare 2 or Uncharted 2.

Why should multisystem games even be allowed to be in the running? I think each system should get its own Game of the Year for exclusive titles, and multisystem can have its own separate catagory.

That said, I vote Uncharted 2 for PS3 and Arkham Asylum for multisystem. I guess ODST must win for 360, simply because it's uncontested (burn!). Looks like Wii will get NSMBW, and DS will probably be Spirit Tracks, IMO. PSP is obviously Dissidia, idiot reviewers at Game Informer be darned.

Mostly what I'm thinking too...except, would Metroid Prime Trilogy count since the games aren't new?

Be hard to beat Uncharted 2. Maybe New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be fantastic.

Umm...I dunno about Prime Trilogy, to be honest. It's technically a collection of three previous games, but Retro did put some new work into making it better than ever. So I guess it should probably count. On the other hand, from what I've seen, NSMBW looks primed to take the win even if Prime Trilogy IS in the running.

Also, to be honest, I didn't really think that DS statement through. Yes, it COULD be Spirit Tracks, but I wouldn't count Bowser's Inside Story out either. I haven't played either yet, so I couldn't say for sure. It's probably one of those two, anyway.

Of course, how much does this really matter? Unless we're planning to set up a vote on the forums in a few months (which actually sounds like a pretty cool idea, if it's run properly), our different perspectives on the matter probably don't really matter too much to each other.

Fallout 3 - 'Game of the year' edition ..........failing that it'll probably be Uncharted 2 though I've never played it it has rave reviews everywhere. Personally I would vote for Little Kings Story

Oh, come on...you can't give Game of the Year 2009 to the Game of the Year edition of the Game of the Year 2008. That's just silly (and a bit confusing, at least when stated as I just did).

I would actually like to run a thread for voting, if I remember to come the new year. We'll need to start narrowing down what games will be available to vote on, though. How's about we list all the awesome games for each system (or multisystem) we can think of now, just to get things started?

Wii (I'll leave NPC off the list, as I'm sure including them would cause some kind of argument...Prime Trilogy included, for the time being): Punch-Out!!, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Excitebots, RE:Darkside Chronicles, Little King's Story, Klonoa, Wii Sports Resort.

About about downloadable games? I absolutely loved Shadow Complex! And hey, a 360 game...sort of.

I considered downloadable games, but that begs some complicated questions: Do we count the VC as a single unit, or as individual downloadable consoles? Do we bother to rate Xbox Originals (not very many options released this year) or worse, Xbox 360 Games on Demand? I don't have an easy answer for the first question, whereas I'm leaning towards "no" for the other two right now. Oh, we WOULD have to account for multisystem downloads as their own entry, of course. And we couldn't build a proper list until the last minute because we never know what's coming until it's here.

Well every gaming site will probably give it to Uncharted 2, but my personal favourite is Little King's Story, then Batman Arkham Asylum.

I don't have a PS3, even though I really want one, but im probably just going to play UC2 at buddies house. I also want to play Demon's Souls, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank ACiT.

Ohh...so castlehominid99 and weirdo309 think the 360 gets a lousy multi-system game, huh? Burn on Halo, then! Oh, and I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what other 360 exclusive titles released/will release this year. Oh wait, one just popped into my head (finally): Forza Motorsports 3. Whoop-dee-freaking-doo.

Multisystem: CoD:MW2, Batman:AA, Brütal Legend, Prototype, Red Faction: Guerrilla...probably more, but I've already mentioned all the ones I care about that I can think of right now, plus a few more.

PSP: Dissidia, Prinny, LittleBigPlanet PSP, MotorStorm: Arctic something-or-other, Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines. Gee, the majority of those aren't even out yet. Aw, who cares? Dissidia wins anyway, imo.
