Congratulations, Odnetnin's avatar...you've reawakened my interest in this game and finally got me to play it.
Initial thoughts: akshdflkajdshflkjasdhf laskdfhliasheds fsd THIS GAME IS AWESOME
Seriously. This thing is fantastic. How oh how oh how oh how did I go this long without playing it?
http://thelettervsixtim.es/ That's the official download site, for anyone even remotely interested. Its $5 price is without question worth it. It's also available on Steam, if that ends up being cheaper.
The music is fantastic, the design charming, the humor excellent...and even though the challenge is already pretty steep, there are checkpoints everywhere and you respawn immediately. It's kind of like Super Meat Boy in that regard...it's utterly brutal, but the game gives you as much time as you need to succeed.
It really is a pretty awesome game. It's short and cheap, but well worth it. I really liked the challenge, and getting some of those orb things are HARD (like the one where you are freefalling up, then down, mega man style, through the spikes- ouch!) its definitely one I'll play every now and again.
Just wait until you beat it, Chicken. Then thank me.
But seriously, I'm honored to have, in a way, inspired you to play it, seeing as when all was said and done on New Year's Eve I decided that VVVVVV was my favorite game of 2010. Might sound like an overstatement now, but boy howdy does the game get good.
And like Fuzzy implied, you aren't a VVVVVV master until you've beaten Veni, Vidi, Vici! (a.k.a. Doing Things the Hard Way).
Also, do yourself a favor and get all twenty trinkets. More than just awesome music awaits you.
I just spent about 2 hrs total with it...unlocked about half the map, and collected 10 trinkets (of 20). I'm really loving this.
It's even making me do that weird thing where I laugh when it kills me. Meat Boy was the same way a lot of the time. I'd end up getting killed in a way that probably should have felt unfair, but instead just makes me happy because of the cleverness of the trap's design. Actually, I think Donkey Kong Country Returns has made me laugh a few times that way too. How in God's name did 2010 turn out to be such a brilliant year for 2D platformers?
Anyway, yeah, I'll gladly get all 20 trinkets, Od. Out of curiosity, does the map show you where they are, eventually? I only ask because a few times I've accidentally been forced to teleport away from where I am before I could grab a trinket, or explore adjacent rooms, so I end up having to do a lot of backtracking. If they later get marked on my map I won't worry so much about scouring every square inch.
But anyway, yeah, that's enough for now. Such an awesome game though. Thanks again!
Awesome, glad I could nudge a few people toward trying this one out. It's absolutely worth it!
Oddo: thanks! I did happen to get the trinket locations eventually, once I realized that the conversations change the more you speak to them. I just rescued by whole crew, so it looks like it's trinket-mania for me for a while.
Also, I'm at that Veni Vidi Vici one. I suppose I could leave it alone and go off collecting the others first, but...sigh...I might as well get it out of the way now, right? hahaha
Yeah it makes all of the other super-hard ones easier. Later you'll be like, "I can do this. After all, I survived Veni, Vidi, Vici!" It's seriously worth it to knock out of the way earlier.

Love it!!!! I think I might actually like it a bit more than Super Meat Boy, and that is saying something. I'm going to get into it hard once I finish up Mass Effect.
